Following the announcement of the Nokia N1, the company's first Android tablet after the Microsoft deal, now we hear the Finns are working on a phone running Google's mobile OS. The phone is dubbed simply C1 and an alleged product shot of it popped up.

Alongside it, there's also a rumored spec sheet, which includes an Intel-made chipset with 2GB RAM. The Nokia C1 would sport a 5" display, probably of 720p resolution, and have 32GB of storage. At the back, there is believed to be an 8MP camera joined by a 5MP one at the front.

Spces seems to be impressive for mid-ranger and appears to be 'corrected' over Moto G 2nd gen.

Would be awesome if it has stock Android rather than customized Sh!t. Nokia design and build quality to go with Android experience would be great.

+1. Icing on the cake would be CM availability for such phones... but 720p is so passe now... 1080p shd be the baseline for 5" devices.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I had read somewhere that Nokia can not sale any mobile telephony device for next few years (don't remeber exactly how many years).
This is one of points of sale agreement.

It will be manufactured by Foxconn as Nokia can not manufacture device until 2016. This one would be similar to Nokia N1 - Foxconn make and Nokia name.

It is pretty obvious. Microsoft purchased the rights to Nokia Devices and Services division, which included both Smart and Mobile Devices. Under the agreement, Nokia is not to venture back into its mobile/smart device business for few yrs.

ATM, i dont really get the hype for the 'Nokia' branded tablet/phones. Only the brand name has been leased and hence everything will be handled by foxconn. Only thing which might benefit Nokia here is that by the time they come back fully into the line, Foxconn's products would have prepped the market for them.
More importantly, will the actual Nokia continue its association with foxconn later on as well.. ?

Nokia cannot make their own phones (which will be done by MS) but another group can make phones for Nokia? And they can use Android since the phones would not be made by MS? Is that it? Or did i miss something?
I thought that MS took over only the software part. >_>

Your post answers half of your query....
Nokia was already a "trusted brand in mobile devices". They have a clean legacy even if they failed commercially. Atleast exNokia users dont feel like exSamsung users. i.e. they dont feel they were sold shit for cost of gold by mere hype.

Being a 10yrs + Nokia user myself I trust their product quality and sturdiness with my eyes closed. Be it a device costing Rs1200 or Rs30000.
Foxconn is leveraging the same Nokia brand value and it will add its own credibility of being the mfg of iphones.
The later does not matter to end customers but it matters to distributors and sales channel partners.
What's in for Nokia?? You already answered that very well.
Will Nokia continue their little thingy with Foxconn...?? My personal opinion is yes... coz markets today have changed. A huge liability on Nokia were its mammoth production factories which created a problem when the sales were low. So in that regards its always better to share revenue and partner with Foxconn which can produce huge no of devices and can adapt to changing models / h/w specifications every year.

I am very positive that in the next 2-3 years Nokia will again be a brand that it once was.... :) Amen.

If you are expecting that the recntly announced nokia n1 tablet and the rumored c1 phone will be the same quality as nokia of yore then you will be dissapointed.

With the previous notable efforts like nokia 8800,n95,E71 nokia was designing as well as producing these phones at their own factories mainly in Hungary and china.(8800,6700 in finland)
With the competition hotting up and need for evn more volumes, Nokia in the later years had to turn to OEMs for manufacture of their smartphones, mainly foxconn. Also nokia factories were shutting down all over the world and nokia was on a firing spree. So partnering with an OEM,allowed nokia to continue selling phones while downsizing at the same time.
Nokia was still designing their own phones, had control over all aspects of manufacturing including hardware and firmware. Most of the later Lumias were made in foxconn factories.
Please refer to wikipedia for the difference between OEM and ODM.
Essentially Nokia was working in a similiar vein to Apple.

What nokia is doing now is just lending its name to products which are essemtially foxconn designs. Even the production and distribution will be controlled by foxconn. Nokia will earn revenue by allowing foxconn to use their legendry name to these
More like an ODM, something which a lot of indian phone manufacturers do.
I dont think we will be seeing these products outside the mainland and surrounding areas.[DOUBLEPOST=1419353548][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry for the typos, away from my notebook, will correct them later.

A nokia device with an intel processor, a 5 inch 720p screen sounds oh so asusy to me..
