On average, AMD claims that their Ryzen 7 9700X is 2% faster than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Simply put, Ryzen 7 7800X3D users should wait for Zen 5 based X3D CPUs if they want to upgrade.

Check out the original article:
https://overclock3d.net/news/cases_cooling/amd-ryzen-7-9700x-beats-prior-x3d-cpus-even-without-3d-v-cache/#:~:text=On%20average%2C%20AMD%20claims%20that,on%20AMD's%20Ryzen%207%209700X.

Although this has not been confirmed by AMD but there is conformation that the new 9700x is about 12% faster on average on comparison with the 5800X3D.

This is confusing as 7800x3d is over 25% faster than the 5800x3d, so something doesn't add up here.
