:) An often asked question?
My cpu after overclocking is showing 46C to 50C(core 1 and core 0) on idle.

After playing games like fear goes to 55C to 58C.
Yesterday after talking to Udit tried running orthos..
Reached a max of 74C and 68C on the two coresafter 1hr of running (all temps measured by Core Temp)
Am I living dangerously?
Currently my cpu is overclocked to 3.14Ghz from stock 2.66Ghz?
I am using stock cooler and stock fans on CM 690?
Will adding additional fans have any effect on CPU temp or should I go for cooling like th 120 extreme?

The temps are totally fine. I wouldn't worry at all with such a mild overclock. Once you start pushing voltage into the chip is when the stock cooler doesn't work great. 74 degrees under Orthos/TAT is not too shabby anyway.

The C2D temps are not surface temps, so will seem quite high. The Coretemp reading is actually the reading from the hottest part of the chip, as long as it's below 80 you'll be fine. After 85 the CPU will throttle, so there is no actual danger unless you push a lot of volts into the core.

:hap2: Thanks a lot sangram...You have taken a load of my head..I was worried because after reading so much about overclocking etc...and also seeing you guys post crazy overclocks...even I have been tempted for slight overclocks.:)
But while I was reading about the safe temps yesterday..I read about a lot of guys posting 40C at stock cooling..
How come ?
...Anyways I will be going for more cooling soon...
