WTB Salvaged Parts for FreeNAS

Looking to buy some used components anyone looking to get rid off.

Looking for building a FreeNAS.

Requirements are CPU, RAM, MOBO, PSU.

Please if you could DM me.
 
AMD athlon x2 240
Asus m4a88t-m board (matx)
Corsair 6bg ram (2gb×3)
Will this suit you ?

Option 2
AMD x2 3800 (sock 939) with msi (hp compaq) oem board, 1GB x 4 ddr1) ram
 
Would suggest to first go with something like OMV or unraid. FreeNAS does need quite a bit of RAM and may not be in your best interests.

I have been looking at unraid. I don't know if I should buy its license as I just need a RAID 1 or RAID 5.
Have you used either of these. Would an ECC RAM be a necessity?

Use unRAID for trial and see if it fits your budget. Optionally, you can look at rockstor or omv or nas4free..

there is no shortage of NAS OS

I have used almost all.

ECC is only an advisory for any OS. Its a 1% percenter problem - IMO.
 
You can try Xpenology too which is a bootloader that allows you to run Synology DSM on non-synology hardware.
While looking for components, do consider the power usage, servers usually runs for longer duration. You should not be end up with a hefty monthly bills :p
