US people are very touchy when it comes to pricing of off contract devices. I believe people won't buy a 1000$ off contract device. They will either get carrier locked phones and get it unlocked and/or sell later.

But with Samsung you never know.... 2moro morning there would be a Advt in newspaper 40% off on major models.....
They are infamous for these price tricks and even dealers hate this....
I am keeping my Note 2 for now....
40% off 50k is better than 40k for samsung.

Its just supply & demand, give it 45 days to 2 months and watch prices drop as supply increases.

Only 20k units imported so far and all destined for Delhi, made in vietnam.

Is the last column of price per unit of 25396/- the manufacturer price ?

Looks like it. If you make a bulk order in the thousands then the cost price is typically half what its sold for. Given this differential i'm not sure how significant a role rupee devaluation plays in setting the MRP. Rupee devalues by 20% you expect a bump by the same. Though i expect the vendors to eat that difference to a certain extent.

Note the cost difference between sourcing from vietnam vs korea. Almost 10k more. Difference in labour price i suppose. The units from korea are for testing & evaluation, the ones from vietnam for retail. Once that supply ramps up the price will come down.

Err. Samsung threw a spanner in my plans !I had planned to upgrade to note 3 and was thinking Samsung would price it at 38k odd as usual, so some 18k on the old note 2 and I was set, but 50k no thank you,I shall happily continue with old one increase my value returns!î„…[DOUBLEPOST=1379640905][/DOUBLEPOST]

Galaxy S4 Manufacturing cost was around $237, Adding up more $70 for that Extended screen, battery, Better processor and extra storage in note3 would be appropriate for Presumption and Not more than that.

slightly off topic, but what the heck - anyone using the note II cdma here? any pointers on pricing and overall feedback ?

Actually its already available for 45k on shopclues. hopefully should reach 38k range by month end after which we can feast on it. (EVIL LAUGH)

Ah, we have a wise guy in the house. I've been here long enough to look at the site before demanding a link. The only discounted price is see is http://www.shopclues.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-n9000-white.html

Which is a tad shy of the claimed 45k pricing.

Thanks for calling me WISE.....The party is over, If u cannot find the deal then it simply means that it has been withdrawn/ended.....Wait for sometime and there will be more deals available soon.

Note Series have their fans especially women (for reasons I am unable to fathom, prob'ly its utility as a mirror) .. And in a country where "Bada hai to Behtar hai.." is an ingrained mindset, I am sure Note 3 will have its takers, even at 60,000 INR..

Not a hater though, but I wouldn't ever buy a Exynos based phone again, even if it blows away everything in terms of performance & benchmarks (read: fudged).

Whats wrong with exynos phones

They have handbags. Though there are quite a number of men who have no problems with a 5.7 inch screen, fits easily in a shirt pocket. When i think about it some more, a bigger screen is always better.

People here say, must be able to do one handed operations. That is only for people that are used to one hand operations and have come from smaller screens. 4.7 - 5 inch is a an absolute max for them. But people going for phablets are coming from the opposite direction, they are used to laptops or better. They would prefer to get away with the biggest screen possible. See the Z ultra or mega 5.8/6.3, those a still bigger screens and evidently there is interest.

Why ?

I get the fudged bit, samsung is known to have tweaked their phones to do better at benchmarks.

People need to bear in mind that the note 3 is a 32GB device and not 16GB.

This will up the cost some like with iphones. Rs. 10k difference between 16/32/64.

@blr_p: Did you just say 5.7" will fit in a shirt pocket? Lol, I couldn't even fit the Note 2 in my pants pocket without the realization of carrying some small brick! And nor it's true people who are used with Laptops will like bigger screens. I always like big things, I'm almost always using my desktop, and laptop in office, still I don't like the size of Note lines, yeah they sure are targeted for its own lined people, but it's just not for people like me. And also I too like to use a mobile phone like a mobile phone, i.e. using it easily with one hand, which is next to impossible for Note lineups, however they are called 'Phablet' for a reason.
And about that ridiculous price, there's nothing to say, even if it came with 128 GB storage or 16 GB RAM, there's no point in buying a V12 for a Tata Nano.
