Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

@buddingwhizkid

Wave is the best smartphone i have seen till date...u can go for it with eyes closed...

the only con i found in this is the lack of emoticons while messaging,,,,:bleh:

@arpan

I have just charged it twice in the past four days and the battery is holding up pretty well now,,,,Brightness i have set at 7...

arpan just a doubt did u charge the battery for 6 hours when u kept it for charging for the first time,,,?

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

The Phone is already preloaded with decent number of Softwares that u need and the application store is growing day by day,,,,so no problems on that front...

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Just been to Samsung SVC here in Vashi, navi mumbai area. The person sitting there told me it would take 2 days just to flash the firmware. WTF, they expect me to leave my 6 days old phone there for whole 2 days for a process which takes less than 10mins.. Though I can update the Wave myself, I wanted to try the SVC option which sadly is pathetic, simply pathetic. How on earth Samsung gonna sell phones in India if they continue to give such poor poor service. Building nuclear plant in phones is one thing, providing after sales support is another..

Wave is my first Samsung phone and I am kinda regretting the decision to buy it. After seeing this kind of attitude from their service people, then god knows what will happen if in future I do get any hardware issues. After experiencing Samsung service station today, Nokia's ok aftersales seems like a five star experience. Samsung is equally poor on both fronts, they dont release firmware updates quickly so that we can flash it at our place & ask to leave your device for 2 days atleast to get it done in SVC

Also I cant reflash the existing DDJF1, atlest nokia provides that option to reflash with the current existing firmware instead of waiting for a new one. Frankly this hardware of Wave is excellent but still I would say my experience with it is downright sad..

Just called customarcare of Samsung , they told me that normally it takes 2 days to flash the firmware. Hilarious !! When I complained they have given me a regional branch no.

Guys, think about this very important aspect before getting Samsung phones ..

For most people it could be their only phone & its unreasonable to wait for 2 days for software update. I have got N86 , N79 as well so I could wait but then I guess I will do it myself.

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Sorry to hear that yogi7272.....

And i didnt get u that u cant u reflash the existing DDJF1?

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

@sujithbvm - I mean for India , the latest firmware is DDJF1 and that's loaded on my Wave. Now Samsung dont offer us the option to flash it with existing DDJF1 again..Instead we need to wait for new version to arrive which god knows when ? They are releasing firmware updates to Europe region very rapidly but here in India ..........

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

I totally agree with u,,,

Its just my guess that the phone got released in Europe first than i India so Samsung is interested in giving firmware updates to Europe region first,,,,,

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Thanks but i know the specs. i have 5230 and i find the screen of 5200 a tad on the smaller side. i was wondering if wave's screen is any bigger than 5230

r the india maps unlocked on ur phone??? U should c the unlock icon nxt to the maps in "More Road Maps". If thts done then u should be able to access India maps on ur phone...... For GPS connectivity.... go outdoors & waits for few mins to get satellite lock on ur device.

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

^^ Ya it is showing the unlock symbol on the right side of the India Maps...is there anything related to the ""Synchronize license keys"' ...i did that also....

Well i went outdoors but it is not doing the satellite lock...it is taking too much time....

ya sometimes it takes time but it does work. i did the same thing u have done... try it later again. I dont know why some people are getting a almost immediate satellite lock and it takes time for others hmmm...

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

@yogi7272

Its really strange that you are facing problems at Samsung SVC. The service point near my place told me that it would just take an hour to flash the firmware to the latest version.

@sujithbvm

As soon as i purchased the mobile , i started using it. It had 50% battery at that time. Once the battery was low i charged it till 100%. I did not charge the battery for 6 hrs.

@all

Should i get the firmware update DDJF1 done at the service centre or not? Does JF1 have any issues?

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

wait for another firmware :) i doubt there are any differences btwn the two. Even the SVC near my place is good :) really nice guy.... depends on SVC i guess..

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Actually i had a Samsung Spica I5700 and i bought it from channel9 bangalore,,,there the fellow told me to drain the battery completely then charge it for 6hrs the first time.. ..The battery was good in my spica too...;)

I did the same in my wave tooo...:ohyeah:

As far as i no no issues i have faced in JF1,,,:)

@soumalidom...will try again...may b the bangalore weather,,,,most of the times the skies are cloudy...he he

Re: Samsung Wave S8500 India release??

Yup. The reason I became angry because this SVC here in vashi, navi mumbai is really really poor. I will have to travel to mumbai for that purpose I think. A friend recommended the one in dadar. He also told me that the regional center in santacruz also has level3 & level 4 repair facility. Now that is great. I guess I will flash the firmware myself, maybe the euro version..
