Graphic Cards Sapphiire 6950 owners, Does the card survive at temp > 90 deg C?

I rencently got an Saffire 6950 2G, and hour of supcom & 3D mark vantage benchmark made the card to reach 93c (max).
Is this normal?

I have opened both side panels of cabinet.
Room temp is abt 31c and GPU-Z max temp readings,
-GPU temp: 77c
-GPU temp #1: 78.5c
-GPU temp #2: 82c
-GPU temp #3: 93c

-VReg #1: 47
-VReg #1: 27

1/2 hr play with BulletStorm(1080p & all max) made the GPU #3 to hit 103 :(
Currently using MSI afterburner software to keep the temps in control.
 
Wow.....that is high. Specially for a new (dust free) accelerator. Sure the fan profiles are kicking in. Update to the latest driver. 103C on just Bullet S is way way to much.
 
There is some manufacturing defect, or maybe the HSF isnt resting properly on the GPU. Those temps are way too high by about 30~35c. Get it replaced.
 
Even my reference hd6950 2gb doesn't reach 103c on full load, you have a non reference hd6950 so it should perform slightly cooler than reference hd6950. Do what asingh has suggested to do... But even after doing that if your card reaches 103c then i would advice you to rma the card...
 
Already using latest drivers from AMD, I never use the driver from box.
opening the HSF and reapplying thermal paste, voids the warranty?

Don't take any chances. Get the RMA done
 
GpuZ also shows the fan speed. Is the fan running at 100%? If nothing works then rma is your last option.
 
I do not know how demanding Just Cause 2 is, but I do know that except for the last temp, which is most probably the VRM temperature, everything is fine. I was concerned about the temperatures on my unlocked 6950 and came across a link which said that the VRM on the 6950 is very high quality and can withstand temperatures till 125. I will post the link as soon as I find it.

The above temps are for without any changes to software or hardware, so the fan was running in auto mode (25% in idle)

But after observing the temps, I had to use MSI afterburner with custom fan curve to keep the temps in check.

MSI afterburn have a fan control like "auto mode" which basically changes the fan speed with temperature variation. So your fan was running at 25% idle, were it running 100% on full load??
 
@OP:

It is your call then. What ever you do, please never run Furmark type of stuff on your card.

Also do you hear the fan ramp up (or check the revs. in GPU-Z) when it is loaded.
 
^^ I will RMA the card, I donot want the hassle of keeping track of temps.

It does change, I can see that from GPU-z.

I have setup a custom fan temp v/s speed curve (30%,30c to 100%,75c) suited for my requirement
25% speed @ idle is without afterburner.
 
Any updates yet? Would like to know how the RMA went since I have a similar card.

On an unrelated note, the GPU whines like mad when the fan speed is set to 100% in the CCC. I've used an AMD reference 4850 before and it wasn't this loud! Will put up the video later. :P

I've set it to 50%. Not very noisy since the chassis fans make up for that noise. :P
