I've set it to 50%. Not very noisy since the chassis fans make up for that noise. :P
Can you post result of your GPU idle temp at auto fan speed so i can be assured that my GPU is not faulty too... :P

Gannu, if possible try using an aftermarket tim. Using TX-2, temps on my 6870 fell by 7 - 8 degrees on load

Opening up the 6950 is a pain! Esp. the backplate. Then we have the front. I'd leave it at that for the time being. Will definitely replace it in the future.

I did that for the couple of 4850s as soon as I reached home, when I got back from the trip abroad. :P

Idles at 41~42 and on load, goes upto 68~70'C.
Those are nice temps for the reference cooler design.

The OP's temps are inexcusable for a non reference design. There must be something seriously wrong with the card to hit 103 deg with an UT3 Engine game. I would strongly recommend that he get the card RMA'ed immediately.

My MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II's in Crossfire mode hit 69 deg load temp after overclocking to 900MHz/1300MHz. Mind you this is in crossfire mode. With a single card installed, the temps are much much lower.

Why don't we just say you're lazy? :bleh:

I don't think you've to do anything with the front of the card. I removed the backplate and took off the front - the entire hsf unit to expose the core. Should it not be the same for your card as well? :S

But removing the cooler and the top cover was impossible in mine :|

Yeah more like it. :ashamed:

And I've a tube of MX2 which Abhi lend me. Has very little of the TIM left now. I'd rather conserve it for further remounts. :P

And hey the MX4 seems to the winner here. Any clue if it is available in our country?
