hi,

I bought a new rig 1 month back and here's my config:

AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE
Gigabyte 785GMT USB 3.0
Corsair XMS3 1333Mhz Dual Channel 4GB
Sapphire HD 5770 1 GB
Corsair VX460W
Cooler Master Elite 310
BenQ G2220 HD 22"

i am not using any Aftermarket Heat sinks for my processor and GPU. i must say 5770 is just awesome in all the games i have been playing. i usually play at 1920x1080 resolution with all settings Maxed out( even AA and AF)
Yesterday i happen to notice the temperature of my Sapphire 5770 HD while playing Bad Company 2 at above mentioned settings using MSI AfterBurner Tool. Its showing 51 degrees at Idle and 93 degrees at Full load. i am not using any extra fans in my cabinet except with 120mm Fan which comes with Cabinet. Please advise me how to reduce my GPU temperature and please let me know whether the above mentioned temps are normal with the kind of resolution 1920x1080 i have been playing. PLease pour in your views amigos!!!!!!!:S:(

in the msi afterburner tool , increase the fan speed that might help reducing temps but may increase noise levels..75% is what most people set it at.

^^u wont need 75%

start by 60%, the temps difference between 60% and 100% fan speed are not much, so 60% is good while not exorbitantly loud

Hey,

I'm in the exact same situation as you...similar rig,one month old, same card, same problem.I gave it for RMA just last week. The only things you can do are either apply new layer of thermal paste and re-seat the heatsink or apply for an RMA like I did if you don't want to open up the card. The card is due this week, hopefully it'll get here and hopefully they wont return my card back as it was.I'll tell you what happens either way.

For both the above cases, the idle temperatures seem fine with India being much more warmer as per most reviews. But the maximum load temperatures I saw were 77C. 93C is far too much. Would ambient temperature make so much difference, or it spells that the cooler(or insufficient / improper TIM application) is the cause. Cannot hold up to extreme temperatures. OP, should try with fan at 100% and check.

We will have to see what Nuke'Em's RMA shows us. I have a feeling even the new card, will start to behave similar after couple of months. What next..?

:(...And I was actually dreaming that they'd accidentally return a HD 5850!:sigh:...btw @OP,I'm purchasing two Scythe slipstreams for my cabinet when I get the card back,I suggest you get some fans too.It should improve the cooling at least a bit,cos the CM 310 case we bought sucks!!!.especially the silent silent exhaust fan which is silent for the very obvious reason that it doesn't do any sh**.

Add more fans to improve the airflow.Add one 120MM side intake that should bring temps down. You should have gone for a better case.

hi Amigos!!!!...

Thanks for ur suggestions. sorry for the delayed reply and BTW my card is still going HOT and have to install an intake fan in the side panel as suggested by you. can u guys please let me know wat type of fans i should go coz am a Noob... Hey man...

Did you get the card RMA'd?If you didn't please do!!.If your card runs at 93 degrees during BFBC2 then it obviously gets a lot hotter during Furmark and things like that. Its not safe.I got mine RMA'd and now it idles at 40 degrees and reaches 60-70 during load in most games.

1.So I suggest you get it RMA'd first, the office is in JP nagar(Aditya Infotech). The process will take about a week and then you will have a brand new 5770 for free.

2.After that get one or preferably two fans for the case. You will get these at SP road.

3.You haven't mentioned any budget or requirements for the fans.I recommend Cooler Master R4 series. Its not too costly(450 bucks each),its silent and has decent airflow(about 70CFM).I got two of these, one for intake and one for exhaust and I used the fan which comes with case on the side panel. Its sure to cut a few degrees but don't expect anything more.

Hope this answers your questions.

BTW nukem, where did u place your two CM fans in CM310? coz i think its very difficult to place an intake fan inside the front panel( as u may know)!!!! please suggest where to place those two fans. i was thinking to use both of my fans on the side panel... the bottom one for intake and the other for exhaust.. please lemme know!! :)
