Hey guys,
my rig's about a month old now.GPU temps were high from the start but I wasn't too concerned initially.
the idle temp is 47C and load temp is 87C at stock.
from what I've read the load temps are pretty high.
The air circulation in my system is not too good-I have just 1 exhaust fan at the back...but I don't think this is the problem as the CPU temps are normal(idle-38C,load-55C).
Should I do something about this or is it safe to continue using the GPU like this?

Thats what happens when you spend all money on getting best GPU/CPU/Motherboard and forget the case.Your rig is pretty decent and should be in better enclosure.Anyways you can add two additional fans in that case.Add side and front intakes, that should reduce the temperatures.

During gaming or on Furmark..?

During furmark...I benched it using crysis warhead the temp maxed at about 85.

Ill try buying those fans as soon as possible.I tried my best keeping the rig as balanced...My budget didn't allow me to buy a better case.I could have bought NZXT gamma but I dint like the appearance.I'm regretting it now.

Is it possible to take the heat-sink off and change the TIM for the GPU?Will this help?

Use Rivatuner to increase the fan speed, should help reduce the temps :)
Is it safe to keep the fan speed at 100% all the time as long as I dont mind the noise?I keep it at 65% now.

Yes although YMMV and yes. :)

Thanks for the quick reply:)
Err..what do mean by "your mileage might vary".Do you mean the new TIM will stop working well later on.?

^LOL no. :P

If someone gets a temperature delta of 5'C using the same TIM, it may not be the same for you. It may be higher or it can be lower. :)

LOL..my bad..Feeling a little dumb today.:P

How exactly do I check the temperature of my GPU?

You can Catalyst Control Center if you have an ATI card.If your card's driver does not tell you the temperature use GPU-Z.

can use evga precision or riva tuner for checking gpu temps in game(shows up in the screen corner ala FPS)/otherwise...
