Any suggestions on good sata DVD burner. Please prove info about what should I be looking for. I need SATA based as it is lot more convenient in my MB (which has just one IDE - ratther two).

If you've a burner already, then get the Samsung S203B. I know the Samsung's are notorious for the tray problem but the burn quality of this particular drive is awesome. Check CDFreaks or CDRLabs for reviews.

I would suggest you to go with Asus if looking for a SATA drive. Sony is good if you have a good quality original media, but they tend to give some reading problems with cheap media types.

As far as Samsung goes... it is never advisable to get one for their notorious tray mechanism even for the sake of burn quality. If the media is good and the writer is O.K, most of the writers seem to perform well nowadays.

forget sony .. get samsung .. i think they have sorted out the tray prob now .. when a mod at cdfreaks say that this drive can replace benq 1640 drive then it has to be something .. get it .. only 1400rs .. :)

No it doesnt have. They (NEC+Sony = Optiarc) have released a lightscribe capable drive, but I dont think its available in India. The Sony mentioned and available here can be flashed to a Labelflash drive (NEC 7173A), but requires a lot of searching around to find the guide+files.

My point exactly. People also like the last set of IDE drives (The S180 series). When so many of them buy the drive, dont think anything could be seriously wrong.
