What in this world do u guys do with your laptops and screens? I can understand putting a scratchguard on the phone as its used carried in pocket all the time but why the home screen or even laptop? Why spoil its looks and add a unwanted layer on the screen? You can easily clean the screens without any real danger of scratching the same. They dont catch scratches like phone screens.

Just buy some screen wipes or tissue wipes and use them with light hand for cleaning.

^^^Heh he... Lo'l... But then funky, thre're ppl who'd want to safeguard their investment....

I know, i am just curious against what they wanna safeguard their investment :P

I have a 9 year old 14inch monitor without a single scratch, 2 lappies, 2 LCDs using without any protection on screen for quiet a while.

I just dont get it why they are feeling the need to add a Protection screen on these screens.

The things , accidents, incidents that can damage the screen are such that even scratch guard wont be able to protect the screen.

These screen will actually get damaged when you accidentally hit them something directly on the LCD glass with some force. Minor touch and pressure does not damage it. And having plastic film wont save it when you hit it with some force.

Also those scratch guards are not exactly clear. They have a slight yellowish/brownish tinge which screws up the colours( even the best of the laptop scratch guards are not 100% clear. ) . On phone its ok but i will not make that tradeoff on laptop or LCD.

Unless u have a kid at home who does soccer practice at home, there is absolutely no need to get concerned about scratches on the lcd screen.. since it sits on the desktop and doesnt go around with u like a mobile phone or a laptop, its highly unlikely tht it'll get scratched by something...when not in use, u can just cover it with a dust cover or a cloth...

i agree with funky tht the scratchgaurds are not 100% clear...they have a slight tinge and th screws up the viewing experience...some of them are actually so bad tht they can cause a blurry image or distortion..

Yawn@all... scratch guard is not just scratch guard...that also has anti-glare feature in it...geeeezz!! 2ndly all new laptops have these scratch guards on the screen from factory!!!! if you atleast do not know if its available or no do no reply...but please dont do akkal ka padarshan!

Dude, screen anti-glare coating / matt / glossy (aka crystal finish ) and the scratchguard is not related at all.

All these screen protecting films similar to the mobiles are not anti glare films. If you thought they were then you are greatly mistaken.

The good old anti glare glass that comes as addon to CRT monitors is totally different thing and is not needed with LCDs and i havent even seen any available in widescreen format here.

it always pays to have protection

on a serious note, protection for lappy and LCD screens are NOT needed.

well wanted to have that crystal finish screen for my lcd...i liked the way it looks on the lappy..and 2ndly i know what an anti glare is and what a scratch guard is :-s ! You do get such antiglares for laptops its a very thin but solid sheet.. and its easily available..neways not here to argue..

With rude replies like tht, u expect ppl to help you here? A forum is a place whr ppl try to help solve each others problems. You are not doing a favor by asking a question here. When ppl are trying to help you out, try to take it in positive way.

I am not RUDE..I JUST ASKED A QUESTION and just WANTED SIMPLE answer..NO BODY asked for any difference between the screens and antiglares or ne such things... Simple question...expected simple answers..yes or no or sorry i dont know and if you do know then tell me where its available...Ppl started with the crap by telling me the difference and taking the whole topic to the different level...if you think this is rude or ppl are not taking your suggestions in a positive manner then its not a prob with me or so..just that people do no reply upto the point and start giving GYAN on something else which is either not needed or ppl already know that since school days.!

So anyways nobody is fighting here...CLOSE this ARGUEMENT here.
