Scratched my XP CD, How to get new one?

Hello..

I managed to scratch my XP CD real bad the last time I reinstalled Xp.. I do have the proper package and Serial and all, so is there anyway I can get a new CD without having to pay couple of grand??

Can I download it from Microsoft if I have a proper serial?

download any windows xp torrent (non-cracked) from net and use ur genuine serial key while installing :)

problem solved !

its less about the hard copy with microsoft...its all abt the key :D

That won't work in certain cases. For example, a pirated copy of a volume install/enterprise edition CD won't work with a regular retail license key.

Besides, most public dumping web sites (mininova et. al) have enterprise/volume editions posted. Unless the OP is a member of a private tracker, it might be difficult to get this done from a public source.
 
Before I contact M$, My XP cd came in a this thin cardboard lined thing with "For Distribution only with a new PC" written on it.. this is the OEM version of XP right? It's this bronze coloured CD..

So will they give me a new CD or will they ask me to go to the distributor?

Oh and thanks for the private tracker tip :) I was looking for original XP on public trackers and wasn't to successful :P

but, I'll have to the the OEM version right, for my key to work.. or will any version do..?
 
Have u tried isobuster? maybe u can make an image of it and still retain it. I am not too sure about the copyright and stuff but no harm in trying.

It worked in my case, all i had to do is download the basic Win XP Sp2 DVD (vanilla) from mininova.org.

exactly.

but u will have to download the same.proper version of the CD that got scratched otherwise the key might not work
