Hi..

i use a 4gb Kingston SDHC Card which i use with my HTC P3400.

I tried defragmenting it on connecting to my PC.. as a USB drive.

Suddenly it disconnected.. now when i connect it to my pc or view its properties within my phone, i find that though the memory is occupied, i cant see any folders/files!!! :(

Any idea as to what i could do??

uhh ..never knew you could defragment memory cards..

is there really a need to do so ?

best of luck dude..hope you dont loose any data ..wait for some one else to reply ..ive got no idea :P

OT- err whats with that avatar of your vince ? eeew !

^^

Hmm..my sd card, when connected to a PC, acts as a USB drive.. so i tried defragging it..
OT- my avatar? Shock and awe, my friend, shock and awe :P

There is no need to defragment a memory card or any flash memory for that matter. The read access time is almost instantaneous for flash memory (since it has no moving parts etc.) unlike hard disks (whose heads have to move around on platters to access data on different parts of the disk). So even if the data is fragmented, the read speeds aren't affected.

^^ thanks for the info.. i knew that, but i was facing some lag in my Windows mobile media player.. so i tried it out just to see if there was any improvement..
Now, any solutions for my problem? :)

Update: I found a hidden folder with loads of files labelled File001.chk, etc..

used a tool i googled to recover photos from the .chk files then formatted it.

:)

^^ it was called unchk with a separate add-on tool for recovering pictures alone..
