Hi,

Well I recently got placed in a company which will mean I will have to drive close to 60kms a day in few months. with 2 trips to Pune a Month in addition to regular travel and maybe occasional long trip

I need to decide on which car to buy. We already own ANHC and are happy with it, but as back seats of that car are comfy, my mom and dad will be using it as their primary car and I will be needing second car.

Budget : Not really fixed. Anything upto 10L is doable. I have kept budget high as I dont exactly fit into driving seat of most small cars. I keep hitting my left knee on the dash or some other knobs on the dash in most small cars except Swift which I really dont want to buy :P

Tried Honda Jazz, liked it but kept me wondering if its worth the price.

Tried Punto, not enough leg room for me as usual ( I am big :P ).
Other option that I like is SX4 and Verna. Love the legspace in SX4 and Verna (front).

I will be buying couple of months down the line, but I really need to decide now to get finances in line.

Try Swift DZire Diesel, as for your running, it would be good ROI. Also check the Verna Diesel, but I would not reco it at all.

Also see the Corolla, Petrol but comfort for long drives.

BTW, you should be able fit into cars with Height Adjustable seats and Reach & Rake adjustable steerings. Mostly top end model of a car has such features so make sure u check out such config. E.g Swift ZXi/ Dzire ZDi etc etc etc.

Personal choice: Expressway = Airbags.

^^He said he doesn't fit in a swift. How will he fit in a swift dzire? :P

You should check the optra/safari/innova if you need roomy interiors. Or up your budget and look at a d-segmenter.

Hi Shripad, how many people would be using the car? If its going to be only you or a couple, Innova/Safari do not qualify. Avoid Optra/SX4/Verna as sales of these cars are declining.
Try something new, Linea is a good car, but if you did not feel comfy. behind Punto's wheel, its likely that you fit in the Linea too.
The latest gen. Honda City is a good car, you could try that or the Civic.

I would not prefer Jazz because I feel its steeply priced & so is i20 & Fabia. That said, Fabia is a comfy, spacious hatch.

Hehe. I would say a used Cedia Sports too, but seeing your budget here are my recos:

1. New Honda Jazz. You already own an ANHC and the Jazz comes with MORE space than the ANHC itself. Lots of people here and on Team-BHP and everywhere else believe it's overpriced. And I agree. BUT, internationally the Jazz costs more than the ANHC. They come with similar engines as well. The Jazz is the practical MPV-styled car which gives you a lot of utility and acres of space. The 1.2ltr mill is refined. If anything, it is under-equipped for the price - look at an i20!

2. New i20 CRDi. Fabulous interiors, tractable motor, good FE (diesel!), unbelievable amounts of equipment and decent space. Though we won't be able to tell if you'll fit in it or not. ;)

3. New Linea D Emo+. Gorgeous looks and decent FE but if you did not fit in a Punto, a Linea's almost ruled out.

4. Pre-owned Honda Civic. Late 2007 and early 2008 models are now going for 7.5-8.5L. Worth a thought.

Those are my four options. I am leaning towards a Jazz in spite of its price, its fits the bill for you and is bullet-proof reliable. Plus, u get to save some of your budget. ;)

Cheers!
Payne

PS: I have nothing against an SX4 or a Verna, I just hate the way they look. It's a stupid bias I agree, but then that's how I am. :)

i feel new fial punto and linea with height adjustable steering should accomodate you. but if still it feels cramped than you should look at tata.

Indigo CS / Indigo Marina are amply spaced and excellent VFM. People consider them cheap but in long run they are wonderfull.

With new Saffire petrol enging and Quadrajet diesel engine (the same that powers Swift / Dzire / Punto / Linea / Ritz) they are quite more refined also.

Havent seen the i20 in person. Will try to go to the showroom and take it for a spin.

The car will mostly be used by 2 people at most. So dont really care about the rear seats and rear legroom.

I do like the space inside Indigo and even Indica. One of the few small cars in which I have ample space, but honestly the car puts me off :P

Lets see, will take a look at the cars I havent experienced.

Go for SX4 , and its got quite a tall stance and should be comfy, have u thought of skoda fabia, its quite classy cheaper than the jazz

Try palio. Theres a lot of space but the seating position is a bit wierd

The current Palio is EOL so steer away. The i20 CRDi deserves a serious look. Anybody still recommending a Fabia needs to be punished with sit-ups

i heard i20 maintenance service is very costly due to parts are over costly due to new service where i heard at hyundai training room 2 months ago

btw 120 replacement from getz crdi 1.5 same as Verna engine but different horse power

Between the both of them, the i20 Diesel is a no-brainer !

@Bottle: Not sure if buying a Palio in 2009 is the best idea - unless you love that 1.6ltr 100bhp engine. Otherwise, the interiors and features date back to 2001!

@Shripad: The Vista is by faaar the most spacious hatch in India. I have a couple of friends who are huge in stature (heightwise) and have opted for the Vista after trying out every single car under 7lakhs. Worth a shot.

But my recommendation still goes for a Jazz or i20. :D

Yup amazing engine . About the interiors I guess it depends on ones perspective. I don't really like the interiors but I prefer it to the ones in the Punto which is full of cheap looking plastic
