Second hand HP Desktop Computer for sale ! Help me with the price I buy it?

My friend is putting up his original HP Personal Computer for sale, specifications being the following.

1. 17 inch white HP flatscreen monitor, model no. m705

2. HP white CPU case that includes,
Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz Processor
1.5 GB DDR1 RAMs (1 GB + 256 MB + 256 MB)
160 GB SATA HDD

3. Motherboard I'm not sure, its either Intel 915 or 945 (one year old only)

4. OG Windows XP Media Centre with OG CD

5. Creative speakers

6. CD writer doesn't work and power switch is soft

P.S. I have personally used this branded HP computer and its been very good since last 5 years under my friend's hands.

If you had the money, how much would buy it for?

He's given me an offer of RS.4000, somebody kindly help me whether I to buy it or not.. Please HELP!
 
I think at 4k this is a good deal - including the monitor. Especially if you upgrade the RAM to 1GB + 2GB (new). Ideal for a second PC, or if your work mostly doesn't involve high end media/gaming stuff.

Yup, and it will cost a bomb, so dont do it. Will cost you around 2K AFAIK.

Also, what is your budget? If possible, dont take the machine, rather get a new one. I am sure even a Sempron will be much faster than this. Plus warranty is an issue too.
