My dad plans to buy a sedan, preferrably diesel. His budget is 6.5 lakhs, max 7 lakhs I guess.I've not been keeping track of the cars like I used to in College. Can anyone help me out with the options?
As far as I know, his options are

1. DeZire
2. Ikon
3. Fiat Linea

We already have a Tata Indigo. So we do not wish to go for the Manza(though the package is damn attractive I hate the Tata Customer service:@).Do rule out Renault Logan:hap5:.
Fiesta is nice but out the budget, just like the Verna. They both would cost us around 8.5 lakhs with Bangalore registration.

Are there any other cars I have missed?

^Fiat Linea under 7L? I doubt that. If you could extend your budget to fit the Linea, nothing like it.

DeZire Zdi (Top-end) is a decent option.

You get good A.S.S from MS! :P

Like Gannu pointed out, a fully loaded Linea will overshoot your budget.

With the current offer, you might be able to fit in the Fiesta within that budget :)

Edit : sorry overlooked the diesel part :ashamed: guess the desire looks like a decent option

How much does the Linea cost on-road?I was guessing it would be around 7.5L.Haven't asked around actually.

What do you guys think of the revamped Ikon?.I think I saw one with a TDCI or something badge. But ford has DuraTorq for a diesel option.

The Fiesta was also revamped untill a few months ago.Are the old ones available for lesser price?

i heard that limited edition diesel fiesta was available for 6.43 lacs until diwali

dont know if the same hold true now

coz my friend bought the same limited edition model for the said price

it was a good buy!

I know you cancelled out Logan. but nevethless...

The Logan seems to have more rear space than even the corolla and can accommodate 3 at the rear comfortably. The car has a very practical design and all its space is used up optimally.

For fuel economy, ride quality, space its Logan

For drive, interiors, features its Dzire.

The doors, side mirrors in the Logan have a cheap feel to them.

If you are going to be chauffeured and/or have a big family , then I would suggest Logan over Dzire...

Some people dont like Logan's looks, but whats so good about Dzire's looks? With the rear spoiler, Logan doesnt look bad at all.

Edit: Since you raised Ikon topic. We have a Corolla, Ikon and a Logan. the ikon is an older NXT. Something about the ikon's drive feel still appeals to me. Its like a point and shoot car and I love that factor about it.

Fiat Linea Active 1.3 MJD 7.5 lakhs

Fiat Linea Emotion Pk 1.4 7.73 lakhs on road delhi

That must be the petrol version.

The base petrol version retails for a tick or two under 7L I think.

edit: eeks...double post...

Test drive ikon, dzire and Logan before you buy.

My vote goes to dzire coz Suzuki a.s.s, fuel efficiency, cheap spares, boot space

There prices are of the diesel version.SX4 gives an on road FE of 8-9km/l, so it wud be too much for a guy used to an indigo.

Their website shows the emotion pk diesel at 8.36L ex-showroom.

The base diesel version Linea Active is listed at 7.03L ex-showroom.
