I have a DAS of RaidOn
GR5630-WSB3 its currently on the for sale thread here on TE. I am looking for something that i can use over network without having to keep my computer on. And something that can be shared over Network to 3 Computers in my home. So after searching i found that ASUS has recently launched RTN65U which has 2 USB 3.0 Ports. On Paper this device seems amazing, with lots of feature i can put to good use.

So the question is will the ASUS RT N65U support a 6TB (4 x 2 TB) RAID 5 DAS attached to it via USB 3.0?

I am getting it for 10k via Ebay Global buy I am not sure if its available in India yet. If i sell my RAIDON for 10k I will still have to put another 10k to purchase the next best NAS which would be Buffalo 4Bay NAS Station which is at 22K so either way i am spending 10K so any suggestions?

Ummm, toss a coin?

Seriously, though - a NAS will offer better flexibility and is not limited by the router processor. A lot of routers with 'USB NAS' have severely limited access speeds to storage devices on that port. Much below the rated port speed. For example, the Readyshare port on my Netgear is limited to an abysmal 5 MB/s transfer. The Asus RT-N13U is even worse, topping out ~2Mb/s.

ok Thanks.... Let see if i can sell the DAS and switch to nas or even an enterprise Raid Card.
@dinjo No idea buddy it wont return to normal font.. tried to fix it but couldn't maybe the mod can fix it.

why raid card ? you would need a raid card if you have a storage box which doesnt have any raid on its own more like JBOD configuration ,

if you have a Nas box which has its own raid memory and configuration you can create luns and map them individually

^ I do, well not actually a storage box, i have a complete AMD Phenom II X3 lying around and i can use that build a storage box with a RAID card & 3tb hdd's... but I wont get other functionality like DLNA etc. which NAS offers. So RAID card is just an option if i cannot get a NAS with required features.

^ I swear I have both those pages open :)

Those are good options.... And Javelin was my First choice, i had ordered via Ebay Global Buy but got cancelled, so i went and bought RAIDON.

Lets see if i am able to sell it, if not then its not bad to have it unboxed run backups of my main desktop.

^ I wouldn't go for Qnap, i have their 10 bay NAS on our servers in Canada and they suck pretty bad, frequent hangs etc... its a real pain in the *beep* to manage them.

Ugh , i could suggest storage boxes like equalogic /powervault /Compellent solutions but those are high end boxes and will be an overkill for your setup ( less than 5 hosts) , my knowledge is limited to the above 3, i atleast tried searching and looking for options but im exhausted lol :p

^ Thanks a lot... I have read some reviews watched videos & have decided i will go for Patriot Memory Javelin S4. Weather I sell my Raidon or not...if its not sold i can connect it to the Javelin S4 & use as extended storage space in future... so its a win win for me.

I have no knowledge of NAS below 8 bay and i was exhausted too of researching :p
