Selling a motorcycle - Pricing/Dealers etc.

Hi,

Posting here considering the age of the forum and certain members, surely a few of y'all must have bought and sold motorcycles or scooters.
Kindly help a fellow member out.

I'm looking to sell a 7 year old motorcycle. I was hoping for something like spinny but apparently they deal only in cars.

I've reached out to beepkart but I'm yet to get a response.

Other than beepkart, what options do I have in this situation?

I chose providers like these, because I don't mind selling it for a lower price if they pick up the hassle of transferring the RC, sale deed etc.

My major fear of going via OLX, FB Marketplace and the local dealers is the transfer of documents.

Also, side note - how do I evaluate the cost of my motorcycle now? (I now understand what sellers know the classified section must feel, when they try pricing their items)

Should I base it on the IDV? Should I consider inflation? Should I service my motorcycle before I sell it or should I ask the buyer to do one?

Sorry, this is the first time I'm doing something like this. So these might be mundane questions.

I live in a tier 1 city in South India.

Recently sold my 22y old TVS Victor as scrap for 7.5k using OLX, bike was in awesome condition but re-registration charges were more than 10k so it was useless to waste that much money on a bike which I won't use at all. Anyways for pricing you can check similar age bikes (your specific model) on olx and that will give you an idea about current market.

Highly likely that the buyer joined this forum particularly for the car. His very first post was on this particular sale thread!

I wonder how the car was transported from Chandigarh to Tamil Nadu tho! What delivery service was used here?

He already mentioned 30k which 110% I believe was hand-delivered by a trusted driver who traveled Chandigarh only to drive the car back.
Nobody risks transporting with the usual container trucks etc. as its too much of a hassle + insurances and clearance and by the car reaches you you end up spending even more,

My friends also prefer to drive themselves esp. when they prefer buying swanky cars from Delhi. Its way easy to drive it home rather than getting into transportation hassles.

Look for the same model on sale of similar age and odometer rating (olx, local FNG, dealerships, etc). Average out the prices by gauging the physical condition of the bikes on offer in comparison to yours (dents, scratches, accidental history, additional accessories (if any)). Post an ad with an acceptable amount and add a 5% markup for lowballers.
This might be a bit tricky as lot of used bike sellers have unrealistic expectations and set extremely high prices anticipating lowballers, apart from the ex-Army scammers who reel in people with irresistible prices but there's a middle ground somewhere which will accurately assess your bike's value.

A simple google search led me to this site which does this for you, give it a shot.
Edit : I checked with the details of my car, seems like it's undervaluing it massively and might not be reflective of actual prices it can fetch.

you keep using it for 22 long year, must be great quality parts & yes maintenance too !!! paisa vasool !!!! what's your existing model? just curious to know ...

I left using it for past 4~5 years but I can vouch for its quality but I should accept that it has done only 48k km in 22 years so it wasn't used frequently. Currently have Activa 3G and now planning to buy any electric scooter (haven't decided any model yet).

So I reached out to a number of 2nd hand dealers. A lot of them say these are slow moving in the 2nd hand market and hence would prefer not to buy it at all.

So much for getting a practical enthusiast motorcycle.

One guy flat out told me I did a mistake and that I should have gotten the R15 instead and if I had, he'd have bought it without thinking twice.

1.how many kms has it done
2.has it ever been in an accident
3.does it currently ride well or are there pending issues that need attention
4.how many times has it been serviced in the past 7 years
5.have there been any major parts that have been replaced
these are probably some of the most common questions asked by buyers, and it would do you well to have the information handy.

6. The mileage it offers.
7. When was the last engine oil filled last. When is it due next.
8. When was the battery installed. If it has any warranty remaining.
9. If the headlight, rear light and indicators shine bright enough. If the indicators beep as expected and if the buzzer screams loud enough.
10. If its color has faded or not.
