i am having various problems my combo drive like

#not able to write over the speeds of 16x; it gives burn process failed !
#even at speed of below 16x the cd is not burned correctly & can not be read from other computer;it causes computer to hang or cd files are shown empty via windows explorer;however there is no error msg during burn time.
#if by chance a cd is corretly burned and is readable on other computer;then is can't be copied;the error supllied is INVALID MS-DOS FUNCTION or DATA REABUNDANCY OR CYClic ERROR
#if some disc's have very little scrathes is also not read means i can't copy it.however i tried the same cd on my friends computer who has exact the same combo drive in model no.

i have a athlon 3000+,msi-k8m800,SATA hard drive,sony combo,win-xp-sp2,nero-6.3,
 
i tested my drive with nero drive speed.here are some results

Seems to be very likely some kinda hardware problem. If the drive is under warranty, get it changed. Was the problem always there or has it just cropped ??

Try changing the IDE cable. Sometimes that helps.

Try a lens cleaner.

Your rotator is most likely damaged. Get it replaced... also just to double check take your drive to ur frnds place and connect it to his comp and test it.
