Setting up networking in office!

No progress yet, expecting to move forward shortly...
After surveying the neighbors, they are going for Mtnl broadband connection..
They have got two numbers, one for calls, and the other for internet exclusively.
PS: Any newly launched products(switch/modem-router) I can consider?

Hey guys!
So finally have setup the network using the following components which were already owned:
1. Basic D-Link ADSL modem - with 1 USB and 1 Ethernet port
2. 8-Port D-Link Un-Managed Switch
3. D-Link DSL-2730u Wifi Router

Following is the connection flow:

MTNL telephone line(after ADSL splitter)

V

ADSL modem (used as DHCP server for the network)

V

Switch

V

Wifi Router & Other LAN ports

You will have better control over the network, if you swap the router with the switch.
The wifi router placement is in the middle of the office to which only one LAN connection is available.
The switch and ADSL modem are placed in a corner of the office(as shown in the diagram in the first post)

If I want to swap it with the switch, I would require either one telephone and one LAN connection(to the switch, thus eliminating the ADSL modem) or two LAN connections (one coming from ADSL modem and the other to the switch).

But none of these options are available for me.

I would recommend this, but i no expert :p

Hey thanks a lot for the efforts!

They are starting with 3 PCs(2 are wifi enabled), 1 laptop(also wifi), and one MFP (wifi enabled).

So the 8 port switch will suffice for now.

In the future if they want more connections, will add one more 8 port switch placed near the current one and connect each switch to a cluster of PCs as suggested by you Or another option would be to get a 16port switch for all the connections.

Thanks again @rads !

Hi guyz,
Some help required....
They were using a 2Mbps MTNL plan and required more bandwidth...
So recently switched to 8Mbps plan
But now the internet connection drops very frequently.
MTNL guy said DLink G502T adsl modem is not capable of handling 8Mbps speeds....wtf?
Is this true?

Thanks again in advance!
