I have a Buffalo whr-54g... fairly similar.

if the Internet connection comes in close to your pc i would suggest the following setup.

Connect pc via wired connection,

Access router firmware (usually there is an internet ip address for this... check the manual...but it is often 192.168.0.1) You have to access the router via a wired connection to setup the wireless security.

Setup an ESSID (You will find this setting somewhere in the wireless setup section of the router) (The ESSID is the identifying name of a wireless network) this is also the name that the laptop will see while searching for the wireless networks in its area.

Setup a method for encryption eg... WPA WPA2 etc... (make sure that your laptop is capable of using the type of encryption connection you choose before you set it.

Choose your encryption key (write it down... trust me you may think you will remember it but you won't)

Now go to your laptop and search for wireless connections and choose the one you named in the ESSID settings of the router.

Choose to connect and you will be asked for the encryption key you setup in the router earlier... that should do it you should now be connected.

YOU CANNOT setup up an encrypted connection via a wireless connection, it has to be done via a wired connection the first time.

WHR G54S costs 2100 Rs , atleast when i purchased.

Range is one floor , 1000sq feet when router is in the middle of the flat.

IF u want a higher range look at WHR-HP-G54 it costs close to 4K

cover 2 floors , Funky has this.

Code:
Mumbai - mascot systems - 9322993570/69 - dinesh

Could you be a little more clear... didn't quite get it :D

I have two net accounts one needs to be connected via 24online crap dialer Note: its Not PPPoE login. and second account is just like normal cable connection it doesnt need 24online just just enter Ip and you get connected to net. now i want to use my 1st account connection (24online dialer connection) on my desktop. I own the 1st 24online crap dialer account and my friend owns normal cable 2nd account (doesnt need to login).Im using my friends account on my laptop coz it doesnt require 24online shit. can i make this router work as hub so that i can use my 1st 24shit account. we have one line and two accounts.

No, i don't think so. I Believe you would have to have one connected through the current router, and the other one either direct connected to computer, or through another router.

now i dont get it lolz i need a solution. how can i use my 24online account.

1. split connecetion?

2. Buy hub if yes which brand and does hub have its own mac addy???

3.do i have any other options????

Sorry.... haven't been on TE for a few been busy.........

As far as I can tell you can only have one internet connection connected through your router. Your computer, however, can have multiple connections..... so connect one ISP through the router (I would imagine this would be the faster connection) then direct connect the other straight to computer.... OR use another router so that you would have two routers.

im getting slow speeds on my laptop i kept my router on default stock settings
except i disabled UpnP. my router model no: Buffalo WHR G54S AP. help!
