why dont u falsh it with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware ?

should i make a copy or backup of a current firmware. and which one should i choose Tomato or DD-WRT firmware?

personally, i use dd-wrt... it's awesome... if you want to get e better idea go to their website here but basically it adds a lot more control over the broadcom chipset, and has many more options and better wireless security better control of port forwarding and static ip control better control of upn etc.....

but to increase speed I still think you need to use TCP Optimizer.

after reading about dd-wrt fw on their website im scared of flashing my router i never flashed any router before. they say u might brick ur router if you dont flash fw properly. pixel can you give me correct firmware tested link for my router. what's TFTP is there any easy way out to flash?

Bricking your router is actually quite hard to do.... if you don't like dd-wrt you will have backed up original firmware to put back, there is a hard reset button on router if you can't access it via your browser/wireless adapter (I did this once or twice cause of incorrect settings, it just resets the firmware to default settings so you can access it) Give me a day or so ... maybe a good excuse to put up a new tutorial :)

Guys,

I have a Buffalo WHR-G125 wifi router (from US).

Trying to get it configured.

But.. when i connect my modem to router and to my laptop, i am not able to access the router. The power LED alone burns correctly while Diag LED turns red and off and thats it.. I am not able to access the router at all. I have connected the modem to the internet port of Router as mentioned in manaul and have connected through ethernet to the router from laptop.

what should i do to get it configured.. Thank you so much for your replies.
cheers

The power LED alone burns correctly while Diag LED turns red and off and thats it.

If the Diag led is flashing red, then you are not getting a connection to the router... let alone the computers... you need to know why you are not getting internet connection first. :) Start by pressing and holding down the little reset button for 30 secs. If that doesn't work try this.... turn off the broadband modem (assumption you are using one) then turn off router..... wait 1 min... then turn back on modem wait until it is blinking correctly to show internet connection, then turn router back on.....

If this doesn't work try accessing your modems firmware page from browser, and seeing if there is a dmz you can turn off or allow to pass to your router. Also make sure that if you modem is using dhcp then make sure your router is too so that an ip address is correctly being assigned to the router.

im waiting for your pictorial re and also give me FW link
firmware link on post #8 :)
I think I am going to do a tutorial on basic dd-wrt install and setting up wifi and static ip and port forwarding too... all in dd-wrt... nothing complicated though. It will likely be a fair bit of work and will take some time so please be patient... my life is crazy crazy busy right now :)
