Setting up Wordpress site (portfolio focused)

hello people.
I want some expert advice here, hope you can guide me in right direction.

Objective is to setup a site, mostly photography (70%) along with tutorials + misc text based posts.

Although I have good exp in setting up wp sites till version 3, resent version 5 is going above my head. Tried multiple things with many themes but results are not close to expected. ( a very very simple look and feel is already designed and would like to follow that).

I tried to hire a wordpress developer in reddit but got cheated, after taking 30$ In advance the person become ghost. (He said he was based in Germany but for payment, provided SBI - Kerala account. Red flag I ignored due to very polite communication style )

Anyways, I tried many photography themes but I’m unable to set it up as desired. Even attempted to buy pinhole theme, but unable to do many things in demo provided by developer. And when I asked for help they pointed a documentation which is again confusing for me. So not bought that theme yet.

The end user is an average computer user (currently running a blogger for posting photo), she can be taugh how to upload pictures in wp, but the process should not be too technical.
The site has to be unique, and super fast. First page should be loaded easily in a 3G connection within 5sec.
Doesn’t care about SEO gimmic at all.

Someone please suggest.. how shall I proceed.

In and give one more try myself, if someone help me by pointing if any YouTube tutorials available.
I’m also open to hire a expert to get this done.(not a commercial site, limited budgets. no budget of paying $$ in per hour but won’t do injustice for sure.)
Approached few agencies who claim to render those services but they mostly selling “their” “package” at 5k ish, and not what is required.
Plus their portfolio is below average. Don’t want to get cheated again.

Please help.[DOUBLEPOST=1546009952][/DOUBLEPOST]Edit.
This doesn’t have to Wordpress. Any cms would work. But quality can’t be compromised and is must.

check themeforest, colorliB, thememonster etc. etc. on internet.
Search for Wordpress themes photography or wordpress photography themes,
Thats it. and decide

thank you for you help... ( this is a holiday season, lets discuss in more detail after 2nd January)

First, tell us what you want. All I can gather is you want " certain " things done and have a certain design.
here is the basic idea
QBA9twW.png

i'm trying to achieve something like this this :-
https://demo.mekshq.com/pinhole/?page_id=592&layout=masonry_2_below

its not mandatory that i have to go with that theme, only but its very close to what im trying to achive.
else i will definitely be more interested in a free theme, as i know, once i am successfully setup the gallery, i will customise the theme heavily and will not need any developer update.

im very much inclined towards this barebone WP theme - https://shapespace.io/

Gallery thing is surely a headache..
Not really interesting, you can find tons of options much better if you checked some sites mentioned.

I used a gallery plugin 7 years ago for a friends personal work..
If gallery is important go for a PAID GALLERY SOLUTION ONLY.. (it is vital, mainly for security reasons).

I will try to search for you again.. (as the site is not live anymore).
but a gallery plugin/addon.

My search landed here:

the domain name, etc are all in place for couple of years now... still now used as a hobby but planning to get a professional looking website, to display work and get clients slowly.

only looking for development ( setting up WP, etc). I will get back to you after a short discussion. although 8k is above our budget :(

thank you, i was reading about Envira Gallery yesterday.. , but still it need a basic photographic theme...

Envira Gallery - also has a free version i guess.

As per my general understanding , the process is:
1. wp setup
2. a theme, setup default pages, like home, about, contact etc.
3. a gallery plugin
4. post normally but only the short-code of gallery containing the images? (im getting lost in this step)

is this correct process to follow ?

true..
whats your take on this theme https://phlox.pro/go/ -- it costs less, looks decent, but seems too much complicated to setup :(

but i tried many themes as of now, but after installing its nowhere neat as shown in demo.. i guess im missing some knowledge in setting up photography related site and missing basic steps... seen few youtube videos but no one shows a setp-by-step, rather 80% time just shown how to install WordPress... and later 20% is rushed with unclear instruction.

please help me with a beginner tutorial focuses in setting up gallery, and the prerequisite before the gallery.

The minimal photography template looks similar to the one you want. If you drag the browser window smaller, it even resizes to fit mobile screen, etc.
Is wordpress so hard to set up? I thought it was just uploading a zip file of the theme to your site.

maybe search udemy for free wordpress courses. lots of people doing free courses there to get initial amount of students and good reviews.

Edit: Look at this photographers site. Seems like a wordpress theme.

Have you evaluated other CMSs?

I used to maintain a few websites about a decade ago. Wordpress then was a mess. Great for straightforward blogging, but sucked for everything else.

I ended up using Drupal.

Not sure how things are right now.

Drupal will be too large for this small work.

Go ahead for a paid solution of gallery, chat/talk/email/sms with technical support you will understand.. reliability.
Else end up waiting,

I could do it up for free if you purchase required solutions.. depends on time.
(my time is very uncertain to give a date except weekends, just buy me a small meal lol).[DOUBLEPOST=1546951316][/DOUBLEPOST]I will provide a gallery solution as well, But updates shall become your headache..
Go for top solution provider, even you can do needful yourself.. No technical requirements its just easy process where people charge 10000s of bucks..
