Hey Guys,

My Nexus 5 has had a minor fall and that has resulted into a shattered glass

However, the display and the digitizer are working completely fine

My phone is under warranty, but shattered glass wont be covered under it as it would come under physical damage

Any solutions? can only the outer glass be replaced ??

Awaiting your valuable inputs
Cheers!!

Did you buy your phone through the Google Play store? Google is doing one free replacement for broken screens within the first year.
What to do with a broken screen on a smartphone? Might as well get a new unit because replacing a screen can cost almost nearly half as much as a brand-new smartphone.
Only true for xperias or upto 15k devices. Not true for higher priced samsung or nexus.

I've seen people mention 5k to fix the screen for nexus 4. Expect n5 will be similar.

Incidentally mine also broke today. Though it was in a Rinke Slim Hybrid case but my junior just has strong hands. I am planning to go the Ali express way and planning to get it from there. The cheapest I saw was for 3.5K. Anybody else planning to take a plunge. I have another friend who has a broken screen.

I have seen videos on YT of just the glass change but it needs tools and cleaning the gum off the digitzer is PITA. Also sticking it back up is not easy and I don't know where to get that kind of gum. Lastly the glass itself costs about 2K on eBay india hence 3.5K with the digitizer looks like a good option.

Had personally replaced the just the glass on one of my S3 it was a tough job to do but some how I managed to do that. Removing the glue from the display was not at all tough but the glass was and it does left some marks on the display due to the blade or wire which i used to remove the glass. I did not used the glue (luca transparent glue) to stick it back as it requires ultra violet chamber. Used the double side tape but the result was ok not great though cannot complain as paid 200 for the glass where as the new screen cost 6.5k

Got a quote for 11.5k for my Moto X. The price for a new one has dropped to 18k.

I think if it is bought via Play Store then you will get the warranty in India too. Just book a complaint online via play store help and you will receive a call.

I don't have more info, searched for this screen on ebay and found the shipping fee was $45 which pushes the price up significantly. What i find ridiculous is nobody keeps any stock locally.

if you get the screen yourself would they be able to repair it or do they force you to get it from them only.
