Shift to Thunderbird ?

I have Office 2007 installed on my Vista machine and use Outlook 2007 with gmail. Now I have no issues with the speed of Outlook 2007; but Outlook won't animate GIF's nor would allow me to save any image off any mail. Now this basic functionality pisses me off. Should I switch to Thunderbird ? Is there any other app that is equivalent or better than Outlook 2007 and not having the above mentioned flaws.

Hmm Gmail's IMAP server is no where quicker as a M$ Exchange server. Gmail is best used as a webmail... I don't think you will notice any improvement in Thunderbird...

may help in image display and download. I don't think you can view GIFs in Outlook.

I know thunderbird has image restrictions too, but I don't remember anything about GIF support either way.

I would suggest downloading Windows Live Mail. That supports GIFs, and is pretty neat if you have a hotmail account.
