So yes finally... I'm quitting the biggest software company in the world and joining a small company in Navi Mumbai located in Mhape. Need to look for a flat on rent somewhere around there. Can anyone please help :bleh:. I have no clue where to start looking.

What made you leave such an attractive job which allowed you to have 8800GTX SLI for testing purpose(for us, grass is always greener on the other side). Let me guess this new company is making you the CEO???? Anything else and I would say you made a wrong career move. :P

Great news! Welcome! Khoperkhairne and Vashi would be a suitable place for you. A drive to Mhape would be some 20 minutes from Vashi or 10 minutes from Khoperkhairne. I don't think Mhape has any decent residential areas. If you want some place a little away from all the noise, then you could think of Seawoods but that will take 30 minutes to cover the distance to work. Residing in Vashi probably makes it a little simpler to go to the island :P and I hope you pick it. I will be your first non-paying paying guest

@banik: Well not CEO but its pretty close :P. Truth be told, I'm kinda bored and need a change or otherwise inertia sets in.

@sTALker: I'd try to avoid agents as much as possible cos all they'd do is jack up prices. Frankly I personally hate most real estate agents.

@darth: Well MSR is a part of MS ain't it :P.

@cj: Thanks for the heads up. Any clue how much those places cost? I need a 2BHK with a covered car park in a decent locality. I don't mind driving a bit if the place is good. Max I'm willing to shell out is 20k a month.

Till you find a suitable pad, I'm sure you'll find many willing places to dump your gear in. :) Maybe some will even let you stay for a while :ohyeah:

your budget should be able to get you a decent place in NM.. (dont take my word for it though :P) mumbai is damn expensive.

what i CAN say is ATB.. in trying to find a flat without going through an Agent.. :P actually.. i'm also on the lookout for some decent acco here in the western line and from what i've heard/seen till now, its well nigh impossible to find a house for rent here in Mumbai without going through an agent.. Unless that is, you personally happen to know someone thats renting out a place.

It's really funny that just this morning I was thinking about dropping in for a listen to your stuff and figuring out when you'd be in town to listen to mine.

Welcome to town.

I do have some decent agents who work for the office, and a lot of peeps who stay in Navi Mumbai in rented acco, so you can get good references from me. I can pass on a few numbers, but 20K for a 2BHK, even in Navi Mumbai, is not gonna happen. Not anymore. You need to spend some time in the city looking for the right place, so provision for a place to stay and dump your gear or better still, come in a little ahead and fix up the place before you actually move.

And after you've spent a couple of years in Mumbai traffic, you'll want to be somewhere that driving is not a part of your routine. I hated it so much I moved to place where a studio is impossible due to ambient noise, but I walk one minute to work and that's totally awesome.

Navi Mumbai is much more tranquil though, and a lovely place to stay. I'm not 100% sure but Nerul and Kharghar are also very quiet, if a little further down than Vashi.
