Shopping in New York

Hello guys,
Family member going to New York and San Francisco.
Though San Francisco is mostly a family visit so might not able to shop much unless they have time.
But New York they will be going for shopping too.

Is it cheaper to buy online or ask them to shop in store for me. What is the scene in Newyork for electronics shopping?
I basically wanted the high end Garmin watch in Fenix or Epix series. will it make sense to order online?
Also was planning some camera stuff. Not too expensive but good mid budget point and shoot camera.
 
step 1: check prices online.
step 2: check prices in store.
step 3: buy wherever cheap.
step 4: profit?
 
If someone can check the stuff then a used deal on point and shoot, iPad, Mac, camera gear is going to be phenomenal. If buying new then pick sony zv1 mark 1. Do not buy mark 2. Sony zv1 is the best point and shoot.

Need one with good optical zoom too. this one has only 3x. plus want something that can work in cold conditions too.
something like olympus tough . Not yet decided but if you have something that has rough and tough built quality , is pocektable and decent optical zoom , weather proof. Do share your suggestion.

out of my budget beside not being weatherproof . I have nikon p500. Which had amazing zoom but not weatherproof and bit bulky too. The camera just cannot take cold conditions.
Will spent maximum about $300 usd . I think nikon coolpix and olympus might come close to my budget.
lets see . Might try ebay also.

No. This is state sales tax. Jersey is like Gurgaon/Noida for NY if you get the relation.

You are paying 10-12% Sales Tax for purchases in NY so it definitely adds up.

Guys,
Can we claim tax back when shopping in usa? Like in other countries.

I checked Google but it says only Louisiana allows that.
Overall usa does not refund tax to foreign visitors.

Bit confused.

For that budget, get a Lumix ZS70 and call it a day.

Any superzoom camera with even 1/2.3 inch sensor will cost a lot more.

Edit: See the FZ80K listed at the same price, so worth for the zoom, if you don't care about the form factor, it may be a better buy.
