I have a Alessandro MS-1 headphones ... well almost.

My Mobo MSI RS482M4 ILD

speakers - ATP3 2.1

I like to listen to music, so got a good headphone yes. i cant afford an expensive amp. nor can i afford XF-I series cards, those im sure will clearly make a helluva difference in how MS-1 will sound.

So should i go for a cheap sound for now. prolly a used Audigy2 value/zs or chaintech ?

my needs are primarily music. do play CS and stuff occasionally, but MS-1 have bad sound stage anyway.

A creative live 24 bit will do the job just fine! The difference in music quality will be very obvious. And since you have a atp3, it will be pair up with that card just fine :) comes about 1.8k i guess

That is a much better bet than spending 2.5K on a new SB Live! 24bit series or used Audigy.

Honestly, the low-end soundcards aren't too much better than onboard. some have a proper headphone amp (my 5-year old SB Live! does) but the new ones forego even that.

I've posted before on how headphones sound with onboard, but for the sake of brevity and to avoid controversy, I won't repeat myself. I think the TS was guptaji, a search should throw up my POV on that front.

Edit: I see your board has a Realtek chipset for sound. Get any soundcard - even a regular two-channel Intek soundcard - and it will sound better than the onboard.

you mean that m-audio is better than SB Live! 24bit series or used Audigy. and Audigy2 series cards ?? performance and VFM wise

m-audio revolution 7.1 is better than any current audigy or fake xi fi :P like xifi xtreme audio and some people find it better than phased out xi fi music;) ;) (for music not for gaming) but definitely u need equipment that can really take advantage of m-audio revo capabilities

IMHO consider buying creative sb audigy value 7.1 for rs 1300/-(price :nov29 computer empire NP):hap2: :hap2:
