If you absolutely HAVE to upgrade dont settle for anything less than 7900GT. Otherwise no point in upgrading.

I doubt you will get more than 13-14K for your 6800Ultra.... and a new 7900GT costs 22K(contact Darky).

Do what I'm doing... keep the 6800 and upgrade in 6 months when G80/R600 is out - for me, there are no games releasing prior to that, that are worth the upgrade :)

EDIT: The other issue is getting a decent price on our 6800's after spending so much to buy it :(

yes, this looks more sensible coz from where i see, your 6800U will run all the games out now and will be out in the next few months at high settings @ decent FPS

Lol never upgrade cause your neighbours dog, your kaamwali bai is upgrading. Upgrade as and when you need it. If you follow the upgrade patterns of peeps on TE you will end up upgrading every other week :P. First decide what games/apps you need to run and whether the current system isn't good enough to handle it. If it isn't or is performing below your expected standard get a upgrade. Donot and i mean donot upgrade just to be able to post a higher 3dmark score or a higher overclock. Seems inane and futile to me..........

yes true it does decent fps.
plus i am new to gaming so i'd have to start off with ut2003 to all these games released as of now.
matter is how much i'll get for this after 6 month or so?
since i wont upgrade rest of my system in next 2~3 years except the gfx card.

it does not matter howmuch you will get for it after 6 months coz by then these gfx cards will be cheaper as well....

yea thts true but my finances wont allow me to spend more than 10k+ the amount i'll get selling my 6800u after 6months or so .
i hope it wont be 6k :bleh: (around 9 to 10k) wuddo fine i guess.
btw blade ur absolutely right :bleh:

When did you buy the card? In 6 months, you will definitely have to sell for a lower price than you will today... the other question is, how much will you get for it today? My guess is 12k or lower :( You have a great card, but the value has depreciated because new GPU's are lowering the value in terms of performance and price.

haa thats a good one :bleh:
Anways @ X86 abey dada u always jump the gun and end up getting shot at yourself...:P Saale wait a bit... don't just dump that card hold on to it till 4 months or so after the G80 debuts... U arent' missing out on much and they are others like rio, nikhil :P and me who are doing the same thing...

You have no idea how long i waited before upgrading my old p4 2.4 and 9800pro............ so stfu :P

Ya from P4 2.4 -> Amd 3000+ -> Opty 144 -> Opty 146 -> Eyeing Opty DC 165

And from 9800 Pro -> GF 6800U -> GF 7800GT -> Still eyeing the X1800XT

Blade surely goes slow and steady :bleh:

one and half months max ;)
used for 5 days [finished projecdt igi 2 stage 9]its now in shelf waiting exams to finish off in 29th and the antec neo he psu ;)

the Opty 144 was still boxed when my friend lifted it :P same for the 6800U......

So the 146 and 7800gt was a no brainer. The 7800gt was a steal literally :P

But yeah needs = wants = upgrades ......... For enthusiasts More 3dmarks = wants = Upgrades. Then they go "Zomg ! i got broke 10k 3dm01 on my card ! WTFBBQSAUCE" I don't really go with that idealogy. Some other guys have been egging me to overclock "just" because i have a opteron, but my point if its fast enough at stock why do it ? (for some more 3dmarks). I'll overclock for sure later once i get decent cooling..............

Btw x86 i forgot to ask you, where did you get the 6800U from and how much ?

Man, you had the card for just 1.5 months... bought it new or used? If you don't lose much by selling now, go ahead and upgrade to a 7900GT. Find someone who wants a 6600gt because the 6800gt would be a nice alternative for people on a mid-range GPU budget.

Well i look at math differently.

If you use your graphic card for say 2 years even if you have high end card after 2 years it wont sell for more than 5-6K max. And to jump in for another high end card means dropping another 20-22K.

So what i do is get the high end card and one al cheapo card like 6200TC. Use high end card for say 6-7 months, sell it. Use 6200 for month, drop 10grands and get new high end card.

Drop another 10 grands after some time. So in 2 years you spend same, have better gaming experience throughout and decent gaming system for 2 years. Spending actiually less than what you will end up spending in 2 years. ANd this is like installment. Easier on pocket than 1 time 30k hole ;)

If you can get decent price for your card then sell it. Otherwise keep using it.

bought from switch which is 1 month old the card loks all new and its max tomax not more than 3 months old [total me+switch]
btw i dont have 10k more to get 7900gt rt now.
so u see if i sell after 6/7 monhs and get around 9k to 10k its all fine.
but if i wanna get g80 i definitely have ot ask some guys help out to source 4m us as g80 here means blast on my pocket.
i am thinking financially becuz all hese r funded by me.
