Guys, i'm getting a new system asap...
need to know if i should go for the radeon 4830...{EOL problems bug me}
or i should wait for the 4770???
budget is <8k definite not more..
how much is the gts 250...
any suggestions..
will be buying a 1600x1200 monitor prolly..
will be trying to get a full hd one for round 12k...
also one more question..
willl C2D e 5400 enuf for the above... i mean will it bottleneck the GPU??
should i go for e 7400????

4830 isn't a deal now ! Wait for 4770 obviously :P It will be out sooner .. If you can't wait to debut it in india KMD will do the job..

Its a 40nm guinea pig :P WIth thumping GDDR5 and lots of headroom for OC with an aftermarket cooler incase you opt for the standard version...+++ It performs a notch lower than 4850 and can even surpass 4870 or equals it with more than a little OC :P

Incase of you CPU you got a good chip. Just Oc that chip to 3.2ghz or near and that will serve the task easily :)

For sure... It ought to cost less than that much even locally, never mind KMD. It's a 100$ card, no more! Via KMD should be about 6k (you can get a rough estimate of KMD's price by multiplying the dollar cost by 60. Ask him directly for a better quotation of course). Locally still not more than 7k.

when is 4770 slated to launch ??

and whats is the minimum config (processor + ram + mb) as not to bottleneck this card

+1 to the above above question....

could not have asked it any clearer...

Respected members plz reply...

its urgent....

plz answer my mobo question in the cpu/mobo section too..

Your E5400 should be good enough. It is 2.7GHz so no problem. You can always overclock the CPU to say 3.0 - 3.3GHz on stock voltage.

About the video card, I would wait for the HD4770. At least wait for the reviews to come.

The reviews have come. It's ugly, but it PWNS face. It beats a 9800GT, comes close to an HD4850 or an 8800GTS/9800GTX/GTS250/whatever. It's a stonker of a card for 100$. 7k doesn't look too enticing though...

Doh! Now that I see it again, your budget is 8k! You can get a Palit HD4850 at 8.1k from theitwares.

I'd suggest the 4770 from KMD (approx 6k) or the Palit 4850 from itwares (8.1k). As for bottlenecking, I suppose that CPU is good enough for the card. I've seen people pair a 4870 with an X3 8450 :s

EDIT: Oh yeah... forgot about power requirements. You'll need a decent power supply to run the 4830/4850. The 4770 I'm not so sure. But we do know that the 4770 needs 80W under load, so a decent 400W PSU will certainly be enough for that. For the 4850, you'll need a good 450W + PSU.

KMD has been charging Rs 70/dollar for sometime now....though it's not a rigid formula

so $100 card is going to cost 7 K from KMD...thus it makes it wise to get it from local dealers here on forum

having said that, it the card debuts at 6.5K, I might pick one for myself....couple it with aftermarket cooler and o/c like hell :P

Local warranty zindabad! Esp when it comes to stuff like gfx cards, motherboards etc. which has a higher probability of getting conked soon enough or even a DOA.

Esp. when KMD charges 70 bucks against a USD it doesn't make sense to invest in a gfx card considering dealers like Amarbir, mediahome.in are giving competitive rates + local warranty most importantly. Heck, even appo had a deal for the Palit GTX 260 Sonic at 10,600 odd. The fastest GTX 260 was being sold as the cheapest.
As for the OP's query, I guess the 4770 should be a better deal. Reviews say the OC'ed 4770 is as good as a 4850, albeit lesser pwr consumption and slightly lesser heat dissipation.

it can even beat a gtx 295

dude its a 128 bit card , DDR5 doesnt mean it will be that fast even after oc :|

I 'll recommend u to wait for 4770 my friend, everybody know what potential it has :ohyeah:

7k is just an rough idea. it can come in even lower

A 128-bit memory interface means shitty AA performance right?

Well, DDR5 is supposed to offset the limitation of the bus. So 128-bit bus w/DDR5 ~ 256-bit bus w/DDR3.

Thanks for all the suggestions...
if its around 7k then i'm plonking for it..
BTW i saw that the reference cooler was similar to the one used in the 4870..
that performed decently enuf..
will i really need an aftermarket solution???
the 4850 had a really shitty 1 slot cooler with absolutely Zero efficiency right..
i guess things willl be better with the 4770...
anybody has any proper review links???
please post back..
