Recently there was some news of the company turn around or something. Will it have any effect on the consumers?

I have the experience of RAM, CD drive problem in HP which got fixed under warranty and now has a battery problem, no warranty. Are all HP laptops have such lots of problem? The other considering is Dell, which I tried for some time but gets seriously heated up, plus Dell is getting a little above my budget with some features that I don't require.

I doubt a company like HP would let the recent changes affect it's customers...

btw, what's the budget you are gunning for?

dont mind i too facing the same confusion with regards to hp.
i have seen hp dv6-6024tx.. i7 and ati 6770, 750 gb hdd, 4 gb ram for ~29k in australia.. should i go for it or as hp reliability issue should i drop. price is tempting..
will the warranty is honoured in india?

also i was looking for the laptop to sustain for atleast 2-3 yrs.. my old toshiba which is 4 yrs is still working without any issue..

suggest if i should go for it...

Personally, i'd go for the Dell..never really got a good feeling about HP..Apart from the performance, the customer service is great as well.

Intel limited period offer (in delhi, andhra pradesh & punjab) on all Intel based desktops/laptops..a free broadband connection + a 15page website + 10 business email-IDs..that should further help you out with your work..

goodluck.

Many folks I know have had a bad experience with HP's customer service and warranty coverage in recent times. I myself faced a major problem i.e. after having spent 8K and repaired a screen on an "out of warranty" laptop, the screen stopped working again.

When I complained to HP customer care, they said that they provide only 3 months of warranty on any replacement part and asked me to pay another 12K to replace the screen.

Also, the service centre was filled with so many customers on a week day. That really surprised me. The numbers speak for themselves.

Warranty on a laptop is very important as you can't swap parts as in a desktop. When Dell provides a very reasonable option of purchasing warranty after selling you a laptop, I would not even look at a company like HP which is on the other extreme when it comes to customer service.
