Should i migrate from MTNL to Airtel broadband?

The MTNL broadband i am using is gr8 and giving no problems but the bill i get at the end of the month really sucks.

Got the MTNL bill yesterday for February:

Total Bill: Rs. 1090

Broadband charges: Rs. 640 (590NU Plan)

Usage Charges: Rs. 50 (this is the real phone usage charges)

Monthly rental: Rs. 250

Service Tax: around Rs. 150

So, i am paying around Rs. 400 (Service tax+monthly rental) for nothing and my monthly bill exceeds Rs. 1000 every month now.

So, i desperately want to switch over. Airtel seems like a good option.

I think the Rs. 250 plan is cool. Add Rs. 100 and you can get unlimited internet from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.

So, how is Airtel? Should i switch over to Airtel?

Also, it would be gr8 if someone could provide the details of Airtel Plans like broadband plans, call duration and charges etc...

Airtel has been overselling their bandwidth for quite a while now, and they are beginning to face the consequences of that now.

I am leaving Airtel as well.
 
I am use Airtel 256 kBps and I am get 65 kBps (real time speed) night unlimited 9.00 p.m. - 8.00 a.m + 10 Hours / month free day time and bill is alway 545 /- (inclus all taxes.)

Plan - 256 kBps Speed Plus
Real Bandwith - 65 kBps
Unlimited - 9.00 p.m. - 8.00 a.m.
Double Bandwidth (65 kBps) - 11.00 p.m. - 7.00 a.m.
Bill - 545 INR
 
My bill is 600 /- approx on airtel night unlimited plan. + 400 approx call charges so my total telephone bill is every month approx 1200 - 1400 Rs.
 
i'm also thinking of applying for Airtel 999 (double night speeds) broadband....are you ppl happy with the service?....I've MTNL TriB 590NU right now...but here are my concerns - i've already invested ~1.3K in initial registration, installation and modem security....but the speeds never go above 27KB/s and for 590nu plan i pay ~750/- incl taxes (and excl phone charges)..which is lame....

....How much will be the extra overhead in the beginning for Airtel....Can i use the MTNL ADSL modem? Will i also need to apply for an AirTel phone connection?

Torrent speeds these days: Day - 30-32 KB/s Night - 50-54 KB/s

When I applied back in '05:

I had to pay : For Regn, Installation, blah blah - Rs. ZERO!

Though paid Rs. 500/- as refundable security deposit for ADSL modem, which they adjusted in the first bill itself :hap2: There is no monthly rental for modem on the 999Plan.

Also, I got a phone line free, with 1000 mins free/month to any 1 local landline no. for three months. (It has been 15 months with Airtel now and luckily I'm still getting calls to this "one particular no." free :D)

- A very satisfied Airtel customer ;)
 
i'm taking it...i jumped onto MTNL for 2mbps speeds...did enjoy it for 2 months after they capped all the unlimited plans to 256kbps but no more attraction now....

have already called the customer care and given my order....another thing - i hope the pings in games is good at night! ~100ms?
 
My Airtel broadband has started now. Service has been excellent so far.

The Airtel person was demanding Rs. 500 as initial payment for installation etc. but i told him to wave it off and he did. So, u try that too.

I bought the Beetel 220BX modem for Rs. 1500 from Airtel to get rid of monthly rental.

The only problem is about checking the broadband usage. For checking ur broadband usage, u have to register at AIRTEL but when u go to the registration page:

https://ebpp.airtelworld.com/care/SelfCareRegister/jsp/UserRegistration.jsp

It requires an account number. I contacted Airtel support, they told me i have to download the registration form, fill it and submit it at the nearest Airtel center with photo and residence proof. After submitting it, i'll get the registration password within a week. But lol, i couldn't find the password field in the registration page...

so i am still trying to register.

Can any Airtel user help me regarding this and gaming pings?
 
Ye, you need to download the Form, Fill it and submit near by Broadband Customer Care with your Passport Size Photo, they will send you the password in mail in 3working days, i hav got the password last month, it helps me a lot, you can check abt daily usage online...

ok i will do that. But i have one query:

There's no password field in the registration form:

so, where do i put the password they will give me?

Also, the only thing i don't know in the form is the "Account No". What is that? Is it same as password field?
