40K+ Should I switch from iPhone 13 to S23 or S24 ?

Forerunner
Why I’m thinking of the switch
1. Samsung website is offering me 39k for my 2 year old iPhone 13 if I buy the S24. Claiming GST and applying some coupon will cost me 35k approx after the trade in.
2. Fedup of iOS and average night camera. I used to have a Pixel and that has spoiled me. I trek and travel quite often and star gazing is below average on iPhone 13.
3. I paid around 45-50k for iPhone 13 2 years back because I claimed GST and used bank offers and what not. So getting 39k for it too tempting.

What i’m worried about
1. Battery. iPhone is great when it comes to battery optimisation.
2. Exynos on S24. I’ve heard S23 is a better choice.
3. I really need that lock folder option which is there in iOS. Have some very sensitive pics related to business and some private pics as well. *wink wink*.

Considering everything above, is the switch from iPhone 13 to S23 an upgrade ?

My devices is from early 2023 batch. The internet refers it as banana-gate lol. Samsung refused a warranty replacement asked me to wait for a software update.
That looks like there's no focus. It happens when I get close but in less than a second it locks focus and it comes out fine. Attaching two pictures for reference.

Go for the s23 ultra instead of iphone or s24...it was available for 70k during diwali sale...

Been using it for close to 2 years nown and everyday I feel so happy that I made this decision to buy the s23u...Nothing comes close to it in battery....locked folder is a very basic feature on android and you can get all sorts of apps to do it

At the risk of sounding like a samsung fanboi...Samsung has the best android implementation now and I think they give what 5 or 7 years of software support now which is crazy...plus battery replacement on even s23u costs close to 3-4k (I didnt have the need to exchange it but just checked prices) unlike 10s of thousands on an iphone....
I used a friends S23 Ultra few days back on a trip. I hated the size and the UI. So glad I decided to stick to iPhone 13. Thing works like a charm, has no cluttered notification icons, serves me well. Only thing I miss is night photography. If Google ever decides to make a good Pixel phone, I will switch to Android. But it's confirmed now that Samsung is not for me.

Yeah offline is better .
However if its 22k online, selling even for 30k will be a challenge.
The best u can expect is around 25k.
And thats for a 1.2lkh 2.5ish yr old phone.
I think you can sell it for 40k ...I helped my colleague sell his s23 ultra for 55k recently...you just need to put in the effort and patience to find the 1 buyer else ofcourse comfort has a price attached to it

Fair point to each hiw own...I cant stand the broken notification implementation on ios and hate it

I find ultra too big but S23 would not be.

The UI can be tweaked a good deal thanks to good lock. Battery optimisation as well as system is quite advanced. Utilities that were stand alone once are stock now. I've been very impressed with Samsung's one UI.

Too bad because now you're stuck with apple.

Probably, I can as well relate to Apple Notes dependency. Notion, Bear, Obsidian they are mind-blowing but I always end up coming back to Apple notes for one simple reason.

It is just a simple note taking app with all the options I need. I do not need plugins or markdown or heavy customization etc. It is a simple app that just works and it is so easy to transfer between devices and maintain notes. This kind of ease of use and integration between various devices is what the USP is of Apple Notes. There is a level of learning curve to these super apps that people like me cannot invest (time). In short, Apple Notes and Obsidian/Notion are like iOS and Android.

@kalph09 Try Obsidian or Notion a try though. These are super apps and if you can spend some time to setup, you will be amazed at how bloody good they are. This is if you are a power user for notes.

I'd say Obsidian is not a super-app. Yes, you can use it for more than it's intended with plugins but it's a much more half-assed attempt than Notion. WIthout any plugins at all, I'd say, Obsidian already has more features as a markdown editor than Apple Notes.

Notion being cloud-first is just an immediate no for me. Btw not sure if anybody has read Notion's privacy policy:

Come on. Obsidian, Notion; GPL, Proprietary. There are a lot of options.

I have used Obsidian in the past and my use case is quiet different. I scan a lot of documents running into many pages, annotate, sometime handwrite with a stylus/pencil and later export as PDF between phone and tablet. iOS Notes and MS OneNote are my go-to choice. If the latest version of Obsidian offers than, I have no problem switching.

Samsung notes is the best for this...the samsung ultra stylus is the best anyways....so for your case this is even better than any apple notes or google keep solution too

Good pixel - Doesnt overheat. Battery saver works as a battery saver and not go from 15% to 0% in 30 mins.

I’m not “stuck” with iPhone. The moment I find a decent Pixel, I will switch and I am satisfied with the phone. It’s only the night photographry that bothers me. It’s dogshit on iPhone 13. Other than that, phone works fine. Daylight images are good enough and phone doesnt lag. Battery optimisation is top notch and UI isnt cluttery like Samsung.

In other words you're asking for an optimised phone. That is not pixel. Never has been. You want cutting edge you deal with the bumps.

Apple is optimised just like Samsung.

That's why I said you're stuck with iPhone.

Are there no third party camera apps that can help with night photography?

Since this is the most active iphone vs android thread.
