iOS Should i update my ipad 8th gen, from ios 16. 8.2 to ios 18

JMak

Yeah.. I am at it ;)
Level G
The ipad is used at work for writing
I never updated it post 16.8.2 fearing that would bloat the storage, might kill battery backup and slow it down..

Been feeling an itch to update to ipad os 18, was wondering if you guys could share your views.if anyone owns one and has done the update, then pl share feedback

Thanks

Edit :
Decided against updating as of now based on the reviews of fellow members

I have an iPad 9th Gen 64 GB. Updated it to ios 18 a few weeks ago. Honestly, couldn't see much difference in my use case that is just taking some notes (with a non-apple pencil), media consumption etc. Just noticed the password manager app installed and some interface changes (specially in control centre). The battery life seems okay in comparison to iPad OS 17 and the overall animations and respose time is noticebaly slower. I mean the response time is not much worse but not as slick as it used to be iPad is 16 and 17. So I would suggest look at the new features of iPad OS 18 in youtube videos and decide if you need them. I hope you know that downgrading has become a bit tricky now as you have to save blobs for the old os etc etc, do that's something to keep in mind.

I think I ll remain on 16.8.2 till my writing app goodnotes allows me...
Doesn't seem any real merit if response time is reduced and the battery backup diminishes even if slightly....
Thanks much again
