CPU/Mobo Should I upgrade Mobo or CPU

Hello Everyone

Thanking you for replying back.:ohyeah: :)

What other mobo can I buy if not Abit IP35E. As it was mentioned that Abit is moving out of mobo business and it is better than the GA G31, what option do I have for a Mobo + CPU @ Rs 9000.

I certainly can stick with my Mobo and upgrade the proccy. However, I am looking to sell off my HP system completely and for that I would also need a Mobo in future. Is there any Mobo that I should consider buying keeping the tight budget in mind.

I cant flash the BIOS in Asus MB as my mobo is not showing up in Asus website. Here is the link to my Mobo details : Motherboard Specifications, IPIBL-LA (Berkeley)*

Other than the specs of my system that I had mentioned I have installed the following :-

GPU cooling for 8800 GT : Thermaltake DuoOrb VGA cooler for KMD
CPU cooling : Thermalright Ultra Extreme with Scythe 120mm fan
Logitech G15 version 2 keyboard
Logitech G15 mouse
Bose companion 2 series II speakers.

I am not able to make good use of the CPU cooler. I bought it to keep it to be effectively used in future.

In kolkata Abit Mobos are sold through Tirupati Enterprise who said that Abit is still in Mobo business and if I buy any Mobo from him he will give the warranty on behalf of Abit in Kolkata.

So I am kinda confused what to do.

If you can please suggest a Mobo+ Cpu for performance and OC within 9000 it would just be great. I have time till Tuesday before I go and buy the stuff.

Please advise me. All my eyes and ears open.:)

Thanks for replying back buddies.:)

Go for which one. The GA + E7300?

Okay. I have checked customer reviews of GAP31 Mobo and many of them reported that OC does not work on this Mobo. Can anybody please advise me how would be the Abit IP35E +E7300? Is it true that Abit is moving off from Mobo business and warranty would be an issue?

Any other Mobo that I can consider buying keeping the budget of Rs 9000(Mobo+CPU) in mind.

Please advise. I have two more days left to decide what to do.:)

Thank You all for your advice.

I have decided to upgrade the proccy and keep the Mobo as of now. I wish I had more Moolah. I need to wait till April, until then I have to live with my HP system. HP system is running just fine, so I can live with it. :)

I am using a 800 Mhz Ram and the E8400 has 1333 FSB. So that would mean that the proccy will only be able to communicate with the RAM at 800 mhz speed. Is that correct??:S If that is the case, on what grounds will the overall performance increase?

Please advice.:)

^^ddr2 800mhz ram will run at 400mhz with 1:1.25 ratio of FSB to DDR2. 667 x 2 = 1333 fsb. running the system with 667 rams wud mean tht it wud b 1:1 ratio...wteva rams u use the FSB wud b 1333 by default unless u overclock/underclock it.

for ddr2 1066 the ratio wud b 1:1.75.

If u use the ddr800 mhz rams in 1:1 ratio manually then ur ram wud jus b running at underclocked speed of 333mhz(667 effective). by default it wud b running at 1:1.25 tht meanz fsb is 1333 and memory at 800mhz.

extra clocks of the cpu would be major pump in performance.

do u even bother to read the posts made mate??..

Sorry abt that ;) . ANyway, I couldn't find the E8400 for 8k anywhere. Most online shops I saw that it is > 9k. At Amarbir, it is around 8.7k excl. of 4% VAT, so that the total comes to around 9.1k. At TechShop too its around 9.4k. TheITwares currently has it at 8.9k.

What would be the cheapest price for the E7300?

Thank You All.

I went to Chandni Market to buy the proccy and enquired in 15 shops. To my surprise, they dont have E8400/8500. Only three shops had Intel Quad core Q6600 @2.4 ghz priced at a whooping 12500 +4% VAT.

I came back home dissapointed..........:(

After thinking a lot, I decided not to buy anything now. I have had some horrible experience with dealers in Chandni Market Kolkata.

So I decided to go for a challenge.

Why not OC my proccy using the HP Mobo. Now the question is how????

I am certain it is possible, just that I do not know how to OC it using the HP Mobo. I have read about softwares like CPU FSB and they need the ICS Chip number to OC proccy.

Can somebody throw some light in this matter. How can i overclock my proccy using the HP Mobo. A detailed explaination would be really great.

Thanks in advance.:)

No advice still???

Please advise me how to OC my proccy using my HP Asus G33 mobo.

Waiting eagerly for an advice.:)

No advise yet?

I have found the software. Its CPU FSB and also found the PLL number. Can someone advise me how to OC my proccy using it as it is not for beginners. I am a beginner in OC.

Please advise.

Still no replies.:( I guess there is noone who knows about it or there is nobody who wants to help me. Thats sad.:(

There will be a lot of people who may help you out - why don't you start a thread in the OC forum instead of this one.

Thanks a lot. I was waiting for an answer here as I had started this thread. I am going to OC forum now. Bye All and thanks.:)

omg. dude. don't upgrade now. older proccies and mobos are gonna fall to rock bottom when deneb and nehalem hit, and then you'll regret this.

use bsel mod to oc. :)

google for details. It is pretty easy and reversible too.

Thanks for replying dude.:)

BSEL Mod seems to be too technical for me. I think its messing with the processor pins. I dont wanna try that as of now. ( I am a bit scared):ashamed:

I am new to OC so wanna try the basics first. The I will try the advanced ones. You may call me a OC Noob from Kolkata.

I had posted a thread in OC forum and still havent got a single reply.

I dont know if help will ever come or not.:(
