^^^You mean standby? Hibernation doesnt consume any resources as the machine is simply turned off!
No..i was talking about hibernate..
Hibernate does consume 2.3 watts. That is to maintain lan. Sleep consumes 3.1 watts..Only when its totally unplugged or shutdown(including lan) its 0 watts.

Have you tried disconnecting the pc from power source? Well, I have :P and it works fine. It doesn't consume any resources AFAIK as the machine's turned off. Once the machine is powered off, there's no way it's gonna consume 2.3watts "maintaining" LAN because it can't.

Thats a very impressive ON time you got stormy :P ... I always shutdown if I'm going to be away from the PC for more than 1/2hr.

Well, I havent tried unplugging while hibernating..am currently stuck with my laptop..But, I guess you just answered your own question..

when you disconnect your the pc from the power source, its not gonna consume 2.3 watts "maintaining" LAN because it cant.. Otherwise when its plugged in, it will "maintain" that LAN..simple..

However, I noticed that the lan duration after resuming from hibernate does reset to zero..but the MS link above says different..

I shut it down in night , used to standby while charging my MP3 but i never hibernate it coz of two resons

1.It eats additional HDD space(Evei have turned off system restore to free Hdd space)

2.I used to Hibernate few yrs ago and one day my PC refused to start. I needed to reinstall everything to make it work, repairing didnt work either.
