  • What's your Budget? Around 70K
  • What will be your primary usage for the notebook be? Zoom calls, basic sound recording (planning on buying a USB mic), browsing
  • What size and weight considerations do you have? Preferably 13 -14" and weight < 1.5kg (the lighter the better)
  • Any brand that you prefer, or any brand that you detest? Prefer to avoid Acer, Lenovo
  • Any other considerations? Need a good battery life ( > 5-6 hours) and a good webcam
Need this for a singer who teaches over Zoom calls, and does some basic audio recording. The Asus Zenbook 14 (link) would have been great but it does not have a headphone jack (!) so that's a dealbreaker. Surface Laptop 3 would have been a great choice if one could get it from the US (~60K there). Here it's too prohibitive (~1L+).

Appreciate any recommendations. The models we are considering so far are:
  • Asus Vivobook s14 (link)
  • HP Pavilion 2021 (link)

Checks all your boxes for 52K approximately. Reviews say that it has 8-9 hours of battery life and Ryzen 5 5500u should have enough grunt for audio editing as well

If the person is serious about sound recording and would perhaps at some point like to work on audio production in general then it's best to drop the size/weight requirements. Performance-focused laptops often tend to have lower DPC latencies which are important from a production standpoint. If not, you don't need to spend anywhere close to your budget for a few zoom calls and the odd recording. For the outlined criteria, take a look at the options linked here:- https://nextpc.co/2020/09/14/360/

That should cover everything currently worth buying.
