Slow Vs. fast

Well....I gave it a lot of thought and i think that there are two types of gamers. Correct me if I am Wrong. the Slow ones and the fast ones, depending on the type of games they play.

Remember ther are so meany City Builder Games which came as a Horde after AOE. Like Zeus, Posiedon (ZEUS EXPANSION), Ceasar, Pharaoh, a.....and the list goes on and On.

What they stirred in me to play them, i dunno. But ppl around me like the NFS, Quake ppl, they used to tell me that they are boring, Are they? or do ya have to look at them from another angle?, another View?

I too like to play the fast Games and believe me, in my life it is either Office or games, whatever game i get my hands on.

Now some ppl will start thinking what is the purpose of this thread at all?
Well really the whole point for me is to find out how many ppl play teh slow City Builder Games.

I really Enjoyed playing all The Sierra City builder Collection. Especially Zeus and Pharaoh. ceasar was ok, but a bit too slow and really unmanagable when the city Grows Larger.

Zeus: My Favourite in the category.

the mythology is absolutely correct based on the epic Homer's Illiad. the Game is awsome, well they could have done something about the graphics but the whole thing was really superb
The ppl, different types of them, the different types of houses, the different types of needs, and yet very simple and the panekl too control them is also very easy.

I enjoyed almost every kind of games.
I was soo addicted to AOE.
At the same time I was playing Q3 as well.
It dosent matter to me. The game must be enjoyable, slow or fast dosent matter.
It was ultimate fun to rule virtual empire starting with 3 workers and empty ground :)
 
I loved caesar and Zeus but zeus does not run on XP and the expansion posiedon I never managed to get it.

I completely agree with funky.. played all kinds of game except the ones that people ask for as if they were contraceptives..
The best gameplay of them all was in GTA:VC. Hands down.

Hey Zeus And its expansion all work on XP....I ahve it and still play it.
It is an awsome game and will play it forever

Wish they come with an Indian Theme
 
you guys talking abt RTS by any chance? I havent played Zeus/poseidon and all, but I think if you are into those games, you guys shud give wc3(tft included) and warhammer a seriuos try ;)
 
WarCraft3 and frozen throne are my favourite games. I spent a fortune to get my hands on the battle chest of warcraft....really cool game,
But I was talking abt the City building game....
 
I have enjoyed all kinds of genres, but the one I enjoy most is the turn based strategy genre, can spend hrs with them. Infact I used to play HOMM3 at 5 hrs strech during coll days.

Right now I hardly get the time to play 1/2 hr a day, just play the vanilla q3a or Fifa 2005. Havent even played HL2 till now :(
 
Well i too play all types of games,
but the best game(in slow type) is commandos for me.........used to spent so much hours playin it....it was fun.
nd the silent storm........thou it was turn based, it was fine.

but commandos really pumped me up:)

now dnt find ny good games i can play.......
still playin UT2k4........but am bored by tht now too......

me too havent played HL2........dnt knw but i get dizzzy whn i start to play it. so i removed it
 
the one game i used to played hours on hours end was Transport Tycoon Deluxe ... was an awesome city , industry builder game , nothing has come close to its gameplay... it has compatibility issues with windows xp , but on 95 , 98 it worked great. the full version is out on the net , look around and you will definitely find one .

am universal gamer - likes to play all kinds of games :)
 
I mainly play strategy games...Caesar3, Alpha Centauri, Civ3, Warcraft 3, etc. Though I've also enjoyed action games like Serious Sam, Heavy Metal FAKK2, Max Payne etc...

Max Payne was awesome!!!

I think choosing a genre depends upon the time at hand. Action/racing/fps games are good for a quickie, whereas strategy games need lots of time and concentration.
 
i dont like strategy (slow) games like aoe,aom,ron etc.
but i do love real life sims like Championship manager series , sims , zoo tycoon etc.
my record is 12 hrs continuous CM 2003/04 :cool2: ...damn tht game is addictive....roman abrahamovich has given 180 M budget for my next season :clap:

yea also like games like cs, nfs ....but my P III limits the possibility of playing the new games :)
 
hmmm agree with zhopudey.. toook me nearly 2 and a half weeks to complete the long campaign in RTW .. it was awesome. i still haven`t gotten over it so playing the campaign again. i had captured around 65 territories.. this time i`ll take care and occpy more esp the the asian mainland..
hmmm and it depends on your taste too.. if you love fast sexy cars then nsu2 and midnight club is the best bet for ya!!! awesome eh..
hmmm even in fps there is no dearth in games.. so many to come and will come in the near future.. how many have even played half the fps games released in the last 3-4 months??
 
I don't like slow games, especially the strategy ones, takes very long time to complete.
THe only strategy game i have played is AOE, did not manage to complete the game.
I only play the fast FPS and driving games. :)

GTA:VC is the game i have spent the most time playing. Took me 2 months to complete playing 2-3 hrs everyday.
My record is playing FarCry for 12 continuous hrs,..i completed the game in two days.
 
haven't played any game recently but my all time favourites will include -
GTA 3, Farcry, Max Payne, Rise of Nations, BLC, NFS:U2 (in no particular order).

Looking forward to playing HL2, GTA : SA, Cricket 2005, BLIC, STALKER.
So, from all the above I cudn't really make out the type of gamer I'm.
Maybe I'm a timepass gamer :p
 
in strategy grt game is rail road tycoon 3 for me right now.. :p
Its good as well as real time strategy at its best
 
Yup I remember Railroad tycoon....The Gold Edition is really great.....
What I like the most about these Stategy Building games is the way we nurture our cities and make it big......really addictive

I've spent so many hours with the HOMM series!! Glad to find another who appreciates it.

I wonder if anyone tried Starfleet Command 2 and 3 - those were very good too.
 
I prefer games that involve action / warfare to be fast i.w warcraft,m starcraft(still one of the best IMO) etc. I prefer city/empire building games to be slow live CIV 4 , simcity ceaser 3 and so on......

The Total War series ROCKS ... slow tactical game followed by fast paced battles in real time... an unbeatable combo......
 
I like RTS a LOT. Especially the warhammer 40k series. In city builders, yes I played zeus and paraoh but liked paraoh (never got around building the mastaba though, ever.)
