Smart Watch dilemma

Since it is Apple, you will have to wait but there is a good chance you will get that manageable size (more than 5" screen) iPhone. May be not in 2014 but good chance is next year end.

Well, the rumor fills are on full force, so many renders. At least a 4.7" this year perhaps. *fingers crossed* :). Else will get a 1520 or similar ones. Tried putting one in my jeans pocket, remind me of days when i used to shove an actual notebook in my jeans. :D :D.

If you can stand Windows, 1520 is a gorgeous and a very capable phone to have. Also it doesn't feel huge or bulky at all despite being a 6 incher.

Well, I did use the Lumia 520 for a bit. Didnt find any fault. All the apps i need are multiplatform. But yea, the size is what bothering me even now. anyways got a Note 3 a month back. So for sometime, I am set. But looking out for a windows phablet in future.

I mean full fledged Office in a phone is very useful to me.

I just couldn't get used to the homescreen tile interface. Still get to play with it from time to time as I had got one for my dad as well.

Free on WP, for everybody else there is office 365. Not free but more importantly does not constrain platform choice.

the free office version that MS announced is read only, modifications are for pay.

Well its different. I try to find things that's suitable for me in any environment. To sync up my outlook and lync properly is all i care. And yea occasional word and power point.
To be honest, lync is the only one that gives me any problems at all. if many settings and few connection issues at the start can be called issues. Well even if desktop it does the same. Rest all works the same across.

I will go on finding the right toggle in ios..android..win through several gestures. Very very dumb user I am. That's one thing i love about android, widgets.

Lync sucks. Period.
In my company they recently decommissioned Microsoft communicator and Installed Lync. One piece of $hit software this is.
Slows down machine, takes infinite time to start. For some reason saving conversations automatically is greyed out. No recent contacts like communicator. And the list goes on.

Sorry for OT.

Well, what are you supposed to do other than follow "process".

But saving convo and recent contacts works just fine for me. I use it in 2 different organizational servers. for both it works. I guess its your company policy restrictions.
Saying that coz in one of the organization I cannot share my desktop. So pretty sure things are customizable.

Press Ctrl-S. It works now.

Right that works. But i prefer automatic saving which was happening in communicator. We don't always remember to do ctrl+S and feel that saving this conversation may not be needed but later we want to see an old conversation which we did not save.

Ohh that feature has been disabled at a Global level by CCD due to some issue.
One good thing is i get to put my pic in this new Lync, rest all is crap. :p

Also about the main topic that is discussed here, I really dont like the idea of having to wear a watch that needs to be charged every day.

Same here, the idea of charging a watch itself sound weird to me. May be later when some super awesome battery tech comes which gives like a month's battery life, then may be i will think. But daily or weekly charging is no-no.

Hi I am amazed to the range of topics this thread has touched and covered.
Anyways, as stated earlier, I am totally aware that the smartwatch tech is in its infancy stage and we will witness great advances in next two years itself.
However, my concern was towards choosing the best out of the worst available today and basically in terms of comfort in wearing.
I am going for the Sony Smartwatch 2 over the Samsung gear neo , basically because the 58mm length scares me and such a huge size would be overwhelming on your wrist and also a center of attraction - which I totally want to avoid.
Other choice was the pebble but again, it has no warranty and horrible support.

Not a smart watch but my colleague in office wears an iPod nano on his wrist. The one which has watch faces and all.

But that won't give call and other notifications.

Nah nothing. It is just a fancy way of using iPod nano. Moreover you need to click a button to see the time (so screen is lit up). Using iPod nano as watch should be done only if you have a nano in the first place. It shouldn't be bought to be used as watch.
So essentially, ignore it :)
An honest opinion would be save your cash and don't buy anything. The stuff available now isn't really worth. Also i know i would be called apple fanboi but would say wait for apple to launch one. Because i feel they will do it only when they get key things like battery and easy of use right.
But then OOB will it be compatible with android, that i am not sure.

No way it will be compatible with android, that's I am totally sure. Also, I don't want to shift to ios as of now. Other option in near future is moto 360 and seeing motorola track record you never know when it'll be launched in India. And I do not want to buy anything without India warranty. Have burnt my fingers more than enough on this count. Recently, the screen of galaxy nexus 9250 died on me. And now as not launched in India, no genuine repair option.
