Hello! Friends

Need Help :huh: kindly suggest :)

Well got a new smps Tagan TG600-U37 recently.

Just to check it i plugged it directly to the mains socket without connecing it to motherboard.

thinking that like any normal smps it will work so that i can check and then plug it to my CPU motherboard but hard luck.

Kindly suggest the that what is the problem is it dead or what ???

Well if i plugging it in APC 500VA Ups will it work or what is the problem ?
 
Man this post is not very clear. If i am thinking in the right lines, what you are saying is that you are not getting any power output from the smps. Ok, first make sure you have connected all the power lines outsde the computer correctly. Secondly make sure that all the lines inside the computer have been correctly connected. Then in case there is a switch on the outside of the smps please turn that on, and then report back with what you see.

What I did not understand is if you have not connected the mobo, how are you checking if its working or not???

As far as I can understand You havent connected the 24 pin motherboard connector but switching it on to see if it works properly. You need to connect the 24 pin connector and ATX12V connector/ EPS12V connector to the motherboard.
 
or if you want to check the smps without connecting it to the motherboard, you will have to short the green and black wires (using any piece of wire/paper clip) in the 24 pin motherboard connector of the smps.
to check the smps, connect any device, say a fan, to any 4 pin molex, and it should work.

do this at your own risk, (although there isnt much :))
 
yup, i wanted to check whether its working or not..as a normal smps works without connecting anything but this was not working when i plugged in the wall socket.

A normal smps starts working and the fan in it use to work as soon as it receive the power supply from the wall socket.

But this smps was not as the fan was not rotating in it.
 
Power supply doesnt work that way.

In that case look for the green wire on the 20/24 pin connector and short it with the black one on its left. Only then you can run the psu without connecting to the motherboard. But what's the point?

I just wanted to check prior to connecting it to motherboard.
A normal smps pf Quantam or Adom make works that way, so as to check was trying that way.

OK we get it... Just do what Sorcerer said in his post & you can see if its working or not... This is the only way & there is no other way out of this.... :P
 
you need a multimeter to check out voltages on each line with black as reference after shorting the green wires which should switch on the smps

search for atx connector voltage reference diagram on the net
