I dont have i7, will be getting Q9550 next month.

Im so confused now :S I'm getting VX550 for Rs.5200 net, to buy or not to buy..

Are boss, upgrade kar hi lo. Look you don't really need it but rule of the thumb is that on average load on SMPS should be around 50 to 60%. VX550 fits your bill perfectly and serve you well enough. And don't upgrade to GP one from VX450.

Sell your VX450 and upgrade. it won't pinch much

I'm thinking of getting the TX650 only, once and for all..
Will costs only 1k extra i.e. ~Rs.6200

Arey VX550 isn't VFM. In TX650 I'll be able to do CF/SLI also..
For 2k extra I'm getting VX550 and for 3k TX650..

Isn't 650 better vfm?

bro if you want to get 650 why not get the glacial one , i am also going to buy one soon after seeing the review here at te. it clearly shows that this is one hell of a VFM product.

in the review they were able to get 733W before the PSU gave up and it showed above 80%efficiency in every capacity it was used i.e. from 20%usage to 100% usage it always showed 80% efficiency.

only thing that the vx650 has more is the warranty.

so it's upto you, one has more warranty while the other is 2k less.

anyways best of luck

I was in the exact same position. I wanted the vx550 coz its a great psu and almost perfect for our configs. I searched lamington road, but nobody had a vx550....so i went ahead and got the tx650. No regrets..very good psu.

So in ur case, vx550 is available at a good price...so get the vx550 eyes closed.

Cheers.

I dont mind spending the extra 1k for TX650 i.e. Rs.6300 Net
Although VX550 would give me a 100-120w headroom, but that won't be sufficient incase I wanna do SLI/CF

Stick with the VX450, if you absolutely must upgrade, go for the GP AL650AA, or spend more and go straight for a Corsair 6xx. I don't see much value in the VX550, it's hardly available and overpriced AFAIK.

Exactly. Stick with the VX450. When you upgrade your machine and want to SLI/CFX then only change your PSU (may be HX620).

I don't know if u upgraded or not but i'd say whenever u upgrade go with a modular one.

I recently went on an upgradation spree, well it not yet complete :P

I have chotted down my complete config below along with their power consumption, If I've missed something or something is wrong please do correct me..

I know one can juice out over 500watts from the vx450, but still..

I don't want to be straing it so much that If I add one more fan or an HDD and capictor's start bursting lile pop-corn..

Also the Q9550 hasn't arrived yet, I'm also thinking of upgrading the chassis to a HAF922
So what do you guys think.. should I get VX550/HX520?

This thread is moving, fast. :)

Good, do not try to squeeze more than rated from the VX450. As per your requirements, a 500-550W would be just dandy. A 650W is over kill, but good to have as arsenal since you 'might' want to multi-GPU. It is a solid unit. You can re-harvest it, when ever you upgrade.

If your new upgrade is close by, get the 650W, and re-use it. If you are distant from it, get a 500W-550W, and enjoy....!. You win both ways.

Not recommending any brands here, the cowboys all ready did....!
