+1 for handbrake. If you want something that looks really sleek, use badaboom, which is superfast, but needs a good system. The episodes may be organised into chapters on the DVD, but you may not get them out as individual episodes. For that, you might have to rip then use something to split the ripped video. This is a time consuming process, so if you just want a backup, create a disc image, which is faster than ripping then splitting the files.
splitting is not time sonsuming...!!!!
just mark the end point and start point then split..!!!!
whats time consuming in this????:)

and for dvd ripping autogk is fine...!!!!

come out of the dark ages and use HANDBRAKE

DVD Decrypter + AutoGK is the standard for dvd rips .

1. Use DVD decrypter to rip your dvds in the vob file format

2. Use AutoGk to convert the vob into an avi file (output size can be specified)

3. Use a standard video splitter/recorder/converter to split ,convert or extract video and sound tracks from the avi video .

AutoGk is the only converter which allows you to specify the output size of the file and so makes it possible for you to make an aXXo style 700mb avi rip of your DVDs .

PS: Auto GK is a freeware
