Hi guys...i need a small help. I want to connect my 160GB internal SATA hard disk to my friends laptop. I don't know how to do it:( . I know that his laptop has a n eSata port but don't know what to do. Any help would be highly appreciated..
Thanks.:)

you need to buy an e-sata compatible casing to be able to use ur hdd on his laptop. The casings are available starting from around 1k..

Thanks for that help.

So that means I can't do any data transfer without a casing right? I knew that it is possible with a USB compatible casing....but I needed to completely take out the casing issue. Anyway, if I decide to get a USB casing, will I have to buy a seperate power adapter or something to power the drive? And are there any warranty issues when using a casing?

usually good casing come with all cables and adaptors included. there are some cheapo solutions with just wiring and no casing but i would totally recommend against using anything like that

can't spend much on a casing...so what do u recommend?

I need a good casing with average looks and low cost...

And by the way...thanks for changing the title....

you reasonably good ones for around thousand bucks. i wouldnt advice risking a hdd with the el-cheapo ones.. brands to look out for in terms of increasing prices are

zippy

transcend

vantec

etc...

have been searching around at ebay and found many flashy casings from transcend but they are of 2.5". can i get a similar 3.5" casing from transcend for under 1k?

Transcend Storejet 3.5 inch casings are difficult to find in the market now. I don't think 3.5 SATA casings from Transcend are available. Only PATA models and that too they're hard to find. And to be honest, the cheap zippy casings just as well.

Your best best is to get a cheap Advik/Zippy/Gemini SATA to USB 3.5 inch HDD enclosure. e-SATA will be beyond your range so you'll have to use USB to connect the HDD to your friends' laptop.

Edit: I think the Transcend PATA is silver in colour and SATA casing is black in colour. Ooh...btw, remember to open the box and check whether the casing, power adapter and USB cable all are there when you buy. Also check if the power adapter connector fits into the HDD casing. Many times, the adapter will not even match or the USB cable will be missing.

Get a Zippy SATA casing for 600/- bucks. Just ask the dealer. He will have one. If not, just get any case. But inspect it thoroughly as I mentioned and ask for another piece or two to compare. All these cases are no name chinese cases. But they get the job done.

You can try asking for the CoolerMaster XCraft but I doubt you might find this in 3.5 inch size(I've seen one in 2.5 inch size). If you get a CM XCraft @1K it's a very good deal.
