hope there are cheaper DX10 cards available....I know 8600 GTS & 8500 GT cards have been released...but how much do they cost in India dunno...cos in US the price is around $159-$229 for 8600GTS & $99-$149 for 8500 GT....8800GT is still costly...

ATI wat ru doin...release some cards soon...bring some competition....

How about a 8800 GS ? ... dunno what this card is all about... just saw this in a compability list with a newer nvidia driver.....

Yeah ... heard rumours about its specs ... lol .. 48 shader processors , along with 512 MB 256 bit mem. :P ...

Anyway .. i wonder how these dx10 games will fare .. keeping in mind the current "uber-stable" drivers from nvidia :P ...

Seriously...they still have to update the last drivers they issued...

ATi are making an announcement soon. R600 I think their new line is (or should be, but AMD may fiddle with naming schemes now.) . Lots of rumors floating around of how powerful it is.

I don't think I'll be buying nexgen PC cards any more. (I remember how I got a 9700 pro for 130$ - got the 9500 and did a softmod). It's gotten too expensive for my liking. It's almost like the companies are pushing the limits only to get us to by a new card every 12-18 months. I'll stick to consoles this gen I think. (Buy Crysis tempts me. Damn does it tempt me)

Same here...me also stickin with Consoles this Gen..every 6months I'll have to upgrade my PC to run those damn games...atleast Consoles would provide an equal platform experience....though you cannot compare the quality of PC to any of the consoles...

xXx. lol noone needs to update graphic cards every 6 months ie if u for atleast a mid-high range card...

I think they cn last 1.5 years with some compromises...

Dude i purchased 6600GT when it was new...felt its outdated after few months bcos my friend bought a 7800 within 2 months, almost same price...from dat day itself i thot of not upgradin my PC until some good card comes.....Though i'll wait for 8800GT price to drop a little.....

I bought an 1800XT an year back n they still do very very well at 1280x1024 high details on most games...:)

It differs from person to person VIJ...no hard feelings though...ur usage might be different...mine would be different...

Thats what we mean. How will it do with dx10 games? Another 6 months and you will have to get a dx10 card for the same performance. It's like the same shift from dx8 to dx9. The ti4200 was a pretty good dx8 card but you had to go next gen (ati9xxx or nvdia5xxx) to get the cooler features like Heat Haze etc. I had a top of the line card (9700 pro), I bought it around mid 2003. And trust me, Far Cry (came out a year later) did not come close to what I thought it should be doing on my card. :(

It seems the 8800 GS is someone's pipe dream !!!

In yesterday's news we posted that in their recent release notes they make not of the GeForce 8800 GS. Appearantly .. it's not going to happen. This is fresh in from NVIDIA, there will be no GeForce 8800 GS:

The initial release notes for the NVIDIA ForceWare 158 Driver had a typo that referenced a product that does not, and will not exist. NVIDIA has no plans to release a GeForce 8800 GS. We have corrected the mistake and will be replacing the document on our website.
