Guys... I know this sounds sad, but really shouldn't we start with 1.6 first :(

Not so many have the B/W to play Source and 1.6 is WCG official as well..

^^Most of the people on TE play Source methinks. The b/w requirements aren't a whole lot different, css can be played on 64k easily and this is purely as fun and nothing competitive. Those who plan to practice for 1.6 have a lot of other options ;).

Hmm... I know it wasn't competitive but I was trying to save 999 :P

btw, what are the highest pings that will play smoothly ? (Never played CSS o/l :P)

And would a Indicom dialup conn. suffice ?

dude,if ur using indicom,thn u cant play for long.and also u need to update.u dont have broadband??about 160 is ok.but

@karan,does 66tick help ppl who get bad fps or sumthin??i was getting good fps in iceworld after u did the 66tick:P

Hehe i realised that ;) (it's well worth it imo) Most ISPs in india get good pings with Sg servers. I'd suggest you goto a cyber cafe that has CS source installed and join the Te server and check out the pings. Anything below 80 is fine.

Well to be honest with Airtel 256KBps connection i get pings around 120+ all the time... On a good day 90 on a bad day 140+ Loss and choke but it is always fun...

Also as of now we are going with CSS... If you can arrange enough ppl interested in CS 1.6 we can rent a server for that too considering ppl interested in 1.6 are ready to rent the server too... Lets see how many here wants 1.6 Server :)...

Yea even this is possible. ;)

OMG, 120+ pings on Airtel :S How do you guys manage to play with such high pings on a 33 tick server man ?

It must be a real slideshow...

I manage pretty good Anish... Will post some pics tonight and let you know ;)... Also the server is a 66 tick server and not a 33 Tick...

Ok guys. I've decided to buy the 999 Source Pack to start playing offline and get used to CSS till my BB conn. arrives.

Now I want to know, after installing this pack, what is the size of updates that I need to d/l (in MB) ?

Quite a lot ctually... I will advise you to get hold of a backup copy from a friend or something oterwise updating on dial up is gonna be a nightmare...

Accha, first of all, dont even TRY, to play 1.6 with anything above 50 Ping.

Trust me. It sucks. It feels like Source at 300 Ping.

A rough idea of the update size here, please. (in megabytes)

Also, is there any option to check the pings i could be getting before buying the copy? Coz it would be a waste to learn later that i cant play on the server. I got a 128kbps connection.

its a very big downlod especially since you would be also getting DoD: source + HL2: DeathMatch + HL2:Lost Coast with the package.

it took me about 10 hrs in total , spread over 3 days to update it.
better solution would be if you can ask funky, Switch or anyother member to send you the backedup updates. it is about 6GB in size but in compressed form it should fit in 1 DVD.

Whoaaa!! 6 GB!!! :S

Maybe i should have specified it in Gb then....
I meant the total size of backed up games. this is not the same as the total download size, which is quite less, since majority of the files will be on the 4 supplied CD for the Games.

Yea the games are installed from the CD's and then updated. For me it took abt 2 hrs @ ~29 KB/s, which equates to about 200 MB. Im not sure if it was only CSS or all of them which took 2 hrs but when it started, 88%(for CSS) was the starting point.
