accept and disconnect.
It is quite bad and unethical these days with banks, which goes really well hand-in-glove with the grain of most Indians. Of being rude, cheaters, and liars. Reason I disengaged from ICICI was because they tacked on a 3.5L extra insurance to a home-loan I was going to take -- on the pretext of a lower rate. This in fact bloated my EMI, instead of reducing it. And you know how they added it to my home loan:
1. Called me -- was checking in at an airport.
2. Asked about an insurance policy on my loan - if I want one.
3. I said NO.
4. Added it.
Luckily I saw the Welcome Letter before I signed off the balance transfer, and halted all proceedings. You know the reason I got " the boy who called you must have misunderstood, we will remove it"**, when I asked them. I made their AVP of Sales or something, visit my office, and stand in the 40C heat of Cyber City -- on the road, and explain me this. I was going to punch him in the face. I was so angry, that I did not even offer to seat them at a Barista. Even after this, it took me a harrowing 54 emails, 40-50 calls, and three months of pure hell, to get the loan stopped. They just kept it running for 90 days -- though after the first month the EMIs stopped. But I was in a financial soup for 90 days.
** And hour later, again someone called me and tried to sell the same insurance coverage. Is ICICI pure retarded. YES. They will even sell their parents on the road to make a quick buck. This is what ICICI is.
Dig a hole, put your money in a sack, and bury it. Rather than keep it with ICICI or any investment thereon with them.
How were you able to close a salary account? When I tried to close a salary account they told that it does not belong to me and the company where I previously worked will have to do that. This was with IDBI bank.
Ask this in writing, with their stamp. A managerial level signature. Walk in physically to your branch. If they ask why, say I need to show this to my company, so they can batten down this delinquent account -- and close it.
