Thanks Adder for your prompt response. Whats the rule of thumb to test dead pixels and backlight bleed when the guy runs the demo?

well u will need a dvd/cd that has the following individual images of red, green, blue, black, white colors, this images should fill the entire screen and these colors will test all the pixels including the sub pixels so u will know if there is a odd dead pixel/sub pixel.alternately and easier just connect a laptop/netbook and in paint just fill up the screen with the above said colors.
some tvs when switched on for the first time will automatically show u these colors as a selftest.
regarding clouding just crank up the backlight settings ,with no source connected and check whether the screen brightness is even and acceptable,u will need to this in a dark room.

Thanks Adder for your valuable inputs. I was able to make my choice and bought a 40" Z series last weekend from Grey market. It cost me 94K much cheaper than the market price.

I am happy with the product and as suggested performed different tests on the LCD to confirm that it works fine. So far I have run a few DVD's using my other new purchase "Pioneer 610AV" and the results are good. Nothing stunning about the picture quality as DVD's fall way short of HD and cannot exploit the full potential of the TV. Looking forward to play some nice HD material soon to put the Z series to real test.

Thanks once again to Adder and the forum for helping me make my decision.

Regards
Andy
