Re: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for £ 154.99 @ chitterchatter.co.uk - Now in Stock

Finally got the phone! As expected, my luck started out pretty bad. Just moved out of my friend's house on the bike and it just shut down. 10 mins of troubleshooting revealed the switches to be poorly contacting, bought a wd40 from a nearby hardware store and problem solved. About 4 hours on the bike and i'm finally home with the phone. It's pretty kickass, well worth the cost. Absolutely hate the gui, i wants me cm7s! Extremely tired, so will do all the keeda after a nice long nap. Phone's charging now.

p.s. sorry for the facebookish post :ashamed:

last time, something similar happened to my kindle...constant restarts for no apparent reason. After 10min of troubleshooting, I smashed it in a fit of rage and broke its screen.

Atleast you had the patience to...well, try something different :D

Hey Julian... Finally my friend in UK gave up on finding any store deal in phones4u. Is chitterchatter the best online deal?

Re: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for £ 154.99 @ chitterchatter.co.uk - Now in Stock

Holy crap, i can't believe you were still trying for phones4u. They were OOS way back just after i posted about them. Hotukdeals had reported that there was no stock anywhere. Chitter chatter had an awesome offer with the experience pack for £154.99. Now there's only an android app pack free. You'll have to buy the dock separately for 8 quid if you want it. But yeah, it is the cheapest deal i could find. I have been updating the first post almost daily, will not be able to do so from today since i'm leaving town.

@sajitsm Seems to be OOS everywhere now, did you get your phone or not?

Hey,

Julian can u tell how much it costs you including all expenses like MRP + tax + vat + custom duty + any other charges(In INR) for buying Single Xperia play ????

Also what extra accessories you get with this ???

Nope... Guess I just missed on a great deal. I have asked my friend to check O2 stores. Are they unlocked?

Sadly, i don't think the O2 ones are unlocked. If you (the purchaser) are an existing customer, then they may give you an unlock code. Else you will have to unlock from a paid unlocking service.

Well, I got my friend in the UK to buy it for me, cost about Rs. 12.5 k. This was including the Experience Pack XP151 which was free with the phone for a limited time from chitterchatter which otherwise cost ~£8. I didn't have to pay for shipping/customs etc. because he sent it over with someone who was coming to bombay.

Anyone who still wants to buy one, keep checking hotukdeals, it may come up in some online store again. There's always the pricey option of amazon.

@The Pain dude, are you around or what? Seem to have disappeared

#julian How much will you rate the gaming experience on Xperia Play on scale of 1-10 Overall compared to PSP?

Though we cant really compare a PSP & X Play, as both are extremely diff products, just wanted to know since X play is also Android

So will it be wise to get a PSP & Good Android Phone for total 14K or go for X play for features of both?

Also are there exclusive games only meant for X Play?

You can't really compare the two. Apart from all the superior specs of the psp, the analog sticks are miles ahead of the play's touchpads. But to be fair, if utilized properly, they're not bad at all. The new version of Shadowgun is an example of this, perfect touchpad implementation. So it's more a matter of proper coding for the pads than inadequate hardware.

As a phone it's quite bulky, though you get used to it very soon. Now, if you do a lot of gaming on the move and find it cumbersome to carry both a psp and a phone, then go for the play. If you're not a hardcore gamer (though i must say, the play WILL make you one if not already!), and portable game only occasionally, then you might be better off getting a better specced, slimmer phone. I would hazard a guess that 90% of play owners are happy they bought the phone. Once you've used the hardware buttons for a lot of games like FPS, platform scrollers etc. it will be impossible to play such games using the touchscreen.

Not sure how you calculated a psp+android costing 14k since a decent android itself would cost that much. What kinda phone were you considering?

There are a lot of games for the xperia play, search android market for 'optimized for xperia play'. These would be games that support the hardware gamepad buttons and touchpads. see: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1217060

^^^ its better to buy sony ps vita at 17.5k from Indiatimes ........ plz dont fire me guys , I know there is no phone and mega pixel camera , only for playing games ...........

I would agree. The vita is miles ahead of the play when it comes to gaming. This is only for those who want an android phone that can game better than ANYTHING else, even the dual cores.
