The Sony DSC-RX1 is the world's first fixed lens digital camera with a full-frame sensor, that has traditionally been seen only in the DSLR world. In fact, the 24.3-megapixel 35mm full-frame sensor inside the RX1 more than doubles the area of APS-C sensors commonly found in some DSLR cameras.

The RX1 boasts of an ISO range of 100 - 25600, with the option to shoot as low as ISO 50 in expanded sensitivity mode. Similarly, ISO settings as high as 102400 can be achieved using Multi Frame Noise Reduction. The DSC-RX1 offers all this in a tiny package that measures 4.5-inches wide by 3 inches tall, that will set you back by a whopping Rs. 179,990.

Sony also announced two new additions in the NEX series of Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Cameras. The Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6 boast of similar specs including 16.1-megapixel sensor and Wi-Fi. The NEX-6 (Rs. 49,990) comes with a viewfinder as well as the control dial, both of which are missing on the NEX-5R (39,990).

Are they available instores yet ?? What abt new e-mount lenses ??

Glad to hear Sony finally announced it :) And it seems they learned how to keep the price sane. NEX5R should sell quite well.

^^ it's difficult to make out the lenses from that image they posted on facebook.I think they showcased the 16-50mm kit lens with the nex-6 along with the 10-18 mm wide angle lens and the 55-210 mm zoom lens. Hope they introduce their 35mm f1.8 lens soon.
But yes nice pricing.i have the earlier version- nex-3 and the dynamic range the sensor offers is amazing. Now confused whether to get the nex 6 or nex 5R.

You can see two black lenses which are appear to be much bigger then 16-50mm pancake zoom,so i guess they are the 10-18mm or 24mm zeiss .
Sony has always launched the prime lenses first ,so i am sure the 35 f1.8 also has been launched.

I was wondering how it would compete with other compact systems cameras on lower segments. Nikon J1 and Samsung Nex1000 is being sold around 20K mark. THough Nikon has a smaller sensor, samsung offer seems to be quite aggressive in this market.

The Sony Nex outsells every other mirrorless camera system.Nikon J1 only is bought by people who are really loyal to nikon,i seriously doubt first time camera buyers would even consider the Nikon J1 its was very expensive when it was launched its currently cheap due to the fact that its on clearance sale.

As far as Samsung their presence is very limited ,it has a inferior image sensor and is way behind the NEX and M4/3 cameras in sales. But the samsung is still a better buy then a Nikon J1 or a canon EOS M.

^ Where did you see that ? As far as I know, no dealers in India has any stock of NEX-3 / 5 (according to dealers here in bangalore)

Further clarification on your comment will be highly appreciated. Ads mention that NEX features as an APS CMOS sensor which is anSLR level sensor and your comments conflicts with that. Could you throw more lights on it ? I was considering a NEX camera

NEX does have a APS-C size sensor where have i said otherwise.

If you read carefully i said the samsung sensor is inferior to the Sony sensor in NEX.

OK.. guys..give me an advise..

There is one piece of Nex3 in Sonyworld in Bangalore. The price is stubborn on 15K and it is a display piece. There minor scratches in LCD corners, not visible and the import date is Oct 2010. In addition, the lense cap is missing as well. He is claiming that nowhere in India you can get this camera now and this is the only one available and it will have full 3 year warranty.

Does it make sense to pursue this one?

Well for the price nothing comes close to the image quality these cameras deliver.
But i would suggest you look at other Sony world stores or just call them and ask.Reliance Digital also sells NEX cameras so call them too or pay visit to see if they have one in stock.

I find it hard to believe thats the only piece available in bangalore let alone india and since its display piece with the lens cap missing i wouldn't buy one unless they give a significant discount and reimburse the cost of lens cap, also the nex3 comes with a lens cap and lens hood and a external flash.

Camshot.in has listed the NEX lenses Mirrorless System Lenses : Sony although no prices are mentioned,so i guess the new cameras and lens are going to hit the stores shortly.
On the A mount cameras they are giving a 10% of on MRP prices, yet Sony world stores don't budge past 3 to 5% off MRP
